I have a question.
I had an icon in my game currently someone ripped it and sold it. and the person that bought it claims "well since i was told it was originally from him, and i paid for it im going to use it because i own it now" but yet he does not have my permission, can someone do this or is this against byond rules?

It's not so much against the BYOND rules as you put it, but rather the law. Yes, what he is doing is illegal since he's using your own material without your permission, even if he bought it from someone who said it was theirs.

Well he hasn't proven that it was his, i was told it was original, and i paid money for it. So until i am told its not original i am going to use it.

Even if he said it was his and you bought it you will be breaking copywright laws by using it, which is well looked down upon in this community. I'm not sure how the moderators will handle this, but I suggest you don't use the icon, even if you paid for it. Sorry, you got jipped.

He told you its his, you said until you were told it wasnt original(originally by the author who sold it to you)you are going to use it. You have been told. Stop using it.

Problem is i guarentee he wont stop using it,this is why i think a byond staff member needs to step in and tell him to knock it off otherwise he wont listen to me and stop using it because hes very arrogant.

I know this is a new concept for some people, but there are those in the community who will do anything for a dime, even sell material that does not belong to them. If you pay someone for an icon and someone else surfaces who tells you they actually made it, there's a good chance you've been scammed. So you really should stop using that icon right away, and you should also point out who sold you the thing, so we can deal with any future attempts on that person's part to profit off of other people's work.
