I've been messing around with Anvil Studio, and I just made this song. (It's intended to be looped.) I'm not happy with it, but I'm not sure how to improve it. Comments, suggestions?

How about a soft base line and a tiny bit of subtle drummage. The main melody there is nice. But it needs something to back it up. Fruity loops gets old fast. I still haven't found a way to change the tempo mid-song. It is cool for messing around with. For the song, I agree with Resonating_Light. You could try harmonizing another instrument with it (unless using one instrument is intended to attribute to the sad affect). A bass line would probably be best. Also, to make it more "sad", you could throw in some accidentals (notes out of key). If you use accidentals, use them quickly. IE, don't hold them very long. If you use accidentals right, you can build suspense without really making the song sound bad. You could also try messing around with the rythm of certain parts. If it's going to be looped, you should try to make it sound a little more dynamic. |

Hmm. It's a good idea you got there, but you need to develop it. To start off, for a "Sad" song you really want it to be a minor key. Also, it's a little pedantic. If you want it pedantic that's good. Also, making the melody syncopated would work more for the emotion of the song, and slowing it down a little. If you want it to BE pedantic I suggest you build on that one theme. For example adding strings etc. as it builds up (and because you want it looped) build back down. Otherwise, good for starting with :D .. also articulating the first note of every bar would be cool. Give it a more emotional feeling.

loops get boring after a while.
I suggest you basically speed it up to like a 8th note did you play this yourself on a piano? It basically gets only so make it like 5 times longer how it should sound. your song:dun na na na na da na na na na da na na na na better virstion: da na na na na da na na na na da na na na na da na na na na da na na na na( higher volume slowly) dadan ( do mi sol)then a song start. lol I hope that helped I play a little piano too. |

I'd done quite a few of the changes everyone suggested, but then my computer went and bluescreened on me before I saved most of it. =( I'll have another go in a little while. |
