I decided that I want to see more board games on BYOND... So, if I were to do a board game contest, how many people would participate?

In other words, reply if you would like to participate in a board game contest for a grand prize of probably like 100 dimes.
I might, if (A) we're allowed to enter existing projects (hehe), or (B) there's enough time to make one from scratch as polished as I like to.
I would love that if we're allowed to enter previously started entries. :-)

Hey, if we're allowing previously started entries, I think Deception will have some competition... =D

*looks around for a Gauntlet so he can throw it down*
I might consider it, I've got a possible boardgame idea that I had a hankering to build a little while ago.
I'd be interested. I don't know if I'd enter, that depends on if inspiration strikes.

But, in order to do that, you have to take it out of the BYONDScape exclusive channel, and you don't want Guy to have a hissy-fit. (If asked, Guy, you WILL have a hissy-fit)

*takes the Guantlet Crispy was looking for and hits him in the face*

Whoops, muscle spasms.

Says who? =P

Anyway, it's not BYONDscape exclusive. Neither is it in the BYONDscape channel. It's just that people with a BYONDscape subscription get some perks. Anyone can download, host, and play the game for free.

So there, gauntlet boy! =D

I think it would be best if I didn't let already existing games enter, for they would have a big advantage over others. Though alpha games might be alright, but there is no way of telling.

There will be plenty of time :P

Awwwww, I was afraid of that. =P

Good good.
Yeah, I'd be interested. I've got one board game I've been working on for a while and some plans/sketches for another, so it doesn't really matter to me whether you allow existing games or not. Of course, considering my overall record of finishing contest entries, my interest or lack thereof probably doesn't matter a heck of a lot :)

There is the contest if you want to enter. How many months should I make it be? I was thinking 2.

Two questions:
  • What is the policy on teams?
  • Does a card game fall under the "board game" genre? I'm talking about something like the Pokemon TCG, not Hearts.
In response to DarkView
A team can make a game, but you will have to split the prize.

Sorry, unless location is going to highly effect gameplay (the reason for a board.), then it is too far on the card game genre.
In response to Kunark
Mmmm... I'd say make it 3 or 4 months at least. You need a good long amount of time for programming contests.

I added a comment on the Bwicki there about prizes, by the way.
In response to Crispy
Well, I stand corrected, but you still have a bloody face!

*takes the Gauntlet from Quake 3 and cuts Crispy's arm off*
How on earth will we give the bountiful dime prizes to the winners if transfers were disabled?

It's probably best not to use obsolete currency as a prize :P. But I'm sure you can bug whoever handles this to take care of the transaction since it seems reasonable enough to me. But that might just be me.

Winner sets up a fake hub entry with X amount of dimes to get access to the nothing. Or convert it into paypal money.
In response to Scoobert
We delete hub entries like that, and repeat offenders get the boot. We may be able to set something up for the dime-sender to allow them to send the prize.
