I'm using the stock heat sink and fan. It comes with the retail processor.

I got it from newegg.com, they have free shipping on almost everything and they also have low prices.

When I built the 2 computers I got the barebones from tiger and everything else from new egg.

Well, I'm currently hiding all my files in a folder called "Microsoft Necess" in Program Files. But windows 98 doesn't have password protection.

That should be a pretty nice system as long as it comes with a decent power supply. I'm not sure that I'd go with the 40 GB hard drive though. It's the cheapest, but it's also the worst value per dollar. For $6.50 more, you can get an 80 GB drive: http://www.newegg.com/app/ ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-145-041

I just bought a 160 GB from NewEgg, fairly close to the optimal price/GB ratio these days: http://www.newegg.com/app/ ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-145-061. They have one that's $5 cheaper, but this one has a larger cache so it performs faster.

For memory, I swear by Crucial.

Or don't. It costs way too much and I just dont see the benifit of upgrading my computer like gateway tells me to. Its too old to get full use of such a ram eating OS.

Personally i dont like XP but there are advantages to password protection and hiding folders that i like.

Opps, sorry. I would go with 1 stick of 512. This will allow you to add more ram if needed.
