Fear not! Because the kind peoples of Dragonball Online has figured out the solution of laggy/choppy gameplay from games with large amounts of HUDs. Follow these directions precisely and you won't have any problems:
Step #1: Return to your desktop, then right-click on the background wallpaper. Select "Properties".
Step #2: In the "Properties" menu, select the "Settings" tab, then choose the "Advanced" button.
Step #3: See the "Troubleshoot" tab? If you don't then there should be a "Preformance" tab covering the same general area. Choose either one depending on your operating system.
Step #4: Now, listed in the "Troubleshoot" or "Preformance" tab, should be listed something called "Hardware acceleration". Pull the pully all the way to the left where-as it says "Hardware acceleration: none". The following message should appear right underneath it: "Disable all accelerations. Use this setting only if your computer frequently stops responding or has severe problems".
This is the end of the tutorial, and you're set to play games with HUDs and games with many moving tiles with a completely lag-free experience! But keep in mind, many non-BYOND related games won't function correctly, so you're going to have to repeat steps 1 - 3 and pull the pully all the way to the right, or wherever you had it.
No severe problems have accured thus far, and this has been successfully completely many of a time on Windows XP, Windows 98, and even Windows 95 machines. This message was brought to you by the kind folks at Dragonball Online.

And, anyone with half a brain could've easily searched the forums and found the same thing with about 500 less words ending in the same results.

Atleast he's trying to help, a lot of people are too lazy to use the search because half the time it doesn't even work.
Stop being so mean to everyone. |

So, because some people are too lazy to check out the search method, we'll just plague Dantom's servers with more useless crap? And, to further my point...if he was trying to "help" people, why would be do a shameless plug of "the good people at Dragonball online"? It seems like he's just attempting at free advertising to me. =P Stop being so mean to everyone. He wasn't being mean, he was merely stating the obvious. |

Sorry guys, I honestly didn't know that this was already made. However, I only did this for the peoples of Dragonball Online, they kept saying that Dragonball Online had choppy/laggy preformance problems, and now since I created this thread, I can just link to here.

It's doubtful this would do much of anything anyway. The main reason HUDs are choppy is that BYOND currently implements them very badly, and has to do a lot of recalculation and redrawing every time the slightest part of the HUD changes.

What would he search for? "lag"? Oh I'm sure that would only give wanted results. Or maybe he could search for "hud lag", because I bet the only time those words were used in a post relates to this.
Just because its been mentioned before (even though I don't recall this being mentioned before) doesn't mean a forum search will give you the answers. Also, its hard to know whats been said before, so if it doesn't come up after your first search then has it not been said? Or did you just search the wrong thing? I think the people that always tell others to use the forum search have never used it themself, because its not that easy to use. |
