Dragonball Online, unlike many, many other DBZ games, will have a very descriptive image when you have an item within your inventory. When you acquire an item, it appears in your inventory as a whole new type of picture, a bigger, and more descriptive one at that. So I decided to share them amongst you all, and remember, constructive criticism or comments are most appreciated.
Oh and one other thing, don't ramble about the lack of color within this certain image. the .JPEG format tends to reduce color greatly, so ... yeah.

THe armors have a weird curve to them. And the rest just looks great. When I said a weird curve I meant at the bottom how they just go sideways.

If you're talking about the left-side torso-flabs, then it was intentional. If you've ever seen Paragas, the father of Broly, then you what armor style I'm talking about. |

**2 Cents** Why don't you do better then? I'm quite satisfied with my artwork, as well as many other people are too. Improvements will be made by viewers, and constructive criticism is definently encouraged, but I cannot help that your post comes off as an insult. By the way, I don't know how in the heck how the cape looks like a gi, even though I used the same structure as does all of my clothing, man ... you must be shrooming. |

He asked for constructive criticism, guys, not insults. I just deleted a bunch of posts which didn't contribute at all. XzDoG, try to make your criticisms more constructive in future. I left the original criticism alone because *some* of it might be useful to Asguard. However, I would prefer it if all of it was, so please keep the insults to a minimum next time.
On the other hand, Asguard, you did ask for criticism. Granted, it's not entirely constructive, but please try not to take offence. The best thing is to just take those sort of comments in your stride. |
I like the idea of creating a new icon for your inventory tab. Very nice. The only constructive criticism I could give you is to detail the shading / folds in the GI's and boots.
Also, to save colour in your screenshot, save it as .png. It tends to keep the quality in the picture. Hope this helps. -~>Xz. |

I would've been a step ahead of this matter, but the reason why I wanted to save it in .JPG format, is simple-minded and reasonable: to keep the rippers and artwork stealers at bay. I know I may be acting rather paranoid and abnoxious, but when life gives you lemons ... SHUT THE HECK UP AND EAT YOUR LEMONS, if you know what I mean. Also, thanks for your valid criticism, I'll be sure to work on such matters. |

You really shouldn't judge someones original art since your the author of a Zeta rip. At least he drew something himself.

no idea how u're displaying this on ur game but it BETTER not be the runescape style...
nah its fine if u TOO are using it its a free country, or atleast mine is |
Nice, I see I'm not the only one with this idea. Though, this isn't uncommon with many games. It is a good idea.
Basically, most people don't like the look of HUGE icons for items that should only take up a few pixels. Especially when the player's icon is somewhat small. It makes the game look trashy and unrealistic. The (of course) simplest solution is a larget icon to be displayed in the inventory upon picking the item up. Though I do not neccessarily agree with some of the icons' actual shapes, they look good. You obviously spent a lot of time on them, and used some nice techniques on the shading of them. I believe some other games that use this similar system were Eyes of the Mysts (the original by NeoHaxor) and I cannot recall for the life of me the name of the game that I am also thinking of. Though, another suggestion on this system is seperate icon files for evey item, each with an equipped state, inventory, and ground state. Rather than using one type of icon per file. This makes it so that you can use a much wider range of colours on all the items through the game. Considering I use close to 256 colours on every icon I make (as I import gradient fills from Photoshop, and use noise filters to make things seem grainy.) this is a fair technique. Though, a few games that break the example of this are Mystic journey, which uses the same icon for the get/dropped states, which makes the game look wholly unrealistic. (but, you can't blame him for being lazy as GB13 didn't make a single one of his icons, as far as I've seen. Oh wait... I guess that counts for lazy, doesn't it?) And a few others, which have done the opposite and used small, and in-proportion icons for all icons, dropped and held... which can cause some confusion as to what the item really is... Well, they look good (which is a rare comment for BYOND dragonball games, and arare comment from me in general.) Though, if you have access to it, I suggest using Adobe photoshop, either 7.0 or elements 2.0. It speeds your ability to make icons, and also tends to increase the quality of your work in general (if you know how to use the program properly.) It is an easy program to learn, and I think your work, though good now, could benefit from it greatly. |

I strongly disagree, it is my belief that senzu beans are about the colour of green beans (the beans inside of them, at least), which is kind of a yellow-green.) Though, yes, the cape is slightly miscoloured and a little on the lumpy side, I think it goes well with the style of the rest of the clothing almost exquisitely. Though, the one thing I do not agree with is a bit on the armour. It isn't EXACTLY what I would think the armour is in the series. I have some old icons I made a LONG time ago that describe my defense perfectly...
...well, turns out that I lost them... Anyway, the discrepancy I was talking about was that the back of the armour (though not visible, the outline on the right should be visible) is actually the same orange colour of the (presumably) poly-rubber shoulder and leg guards that make the armour so famous. Only the small of the back is so, however, as the orange portion stops near the shoulder blades. Next, is the hanging portion in the middle. It should be orange in my mind... and should hang relatively straight. Though after the defeat of the saiyans on earth, Vegeta is re-equipped by a lizard-like creature on planet Freeza no. 19, (If my memory serves me.) after a three day stint in a healing pod, the lizard-creature says and I quote: "Lord Vegeta, your custom rubber armour is ready." Now, yes, rubber is somewhat flexible, though I would think that it would prefer to hang straight down, as it can repel a blow from a sword (illustrated by Yajirobe's assault from behind on Vegeta during the fight between him and Goku.), and as it is about an inch thick. Next, and last, there is a rounded area below the collar of the armour. This round portion comes up a little above the collar bone and is pretty much a white rubber cyllinder, even in the lower ranking and higher ranking saiyan armours does this appear, even in Lord Freeza's armour does this appear. Though I am uncertain of the Ginyu Force's armour, I believe some of these traits also apply there. Heh, what can I say? I bought the mangas when I was younger. =P Well, it is YOUR design, your final decision, and these are but minour details... Don't take my word for it, buy some old episodes. Only $5.99 on tape. =P And as for you, Xz, I have only one word for you. Toaster. (I didn't say it had to do with anything, did I?) |
