Some of us (maybe most of us) have troubles logging out and have to close DS just to get out. Someone could have important information on there DS and has to lose it cause of this game. If you put a delay in spamming people can logout quickly.

yes, i am aware of that. i tested it on myself, and it seemed to leave the player enough time to logout, if they wished. regardless of this, those involved have expressed their sorrow, and we all regret the entire idea. i agree with AZA's post about thread removal, and moving on.

I had a good laugh! Though, it actually did have a meaning! It was a basic central chat for quite a few people. Anyone who wasn't worthy, spammed, other wise they had a fun chatting environment. What's this hub abuse? There's no hub entry! What about if you copy someone's entire hub entry's html page... then use it as your own? I think that that is closer to hub abuse, so I don't think you should be talking about that, okay Goz? ;)

you would have been better off, and attracted far less negative attention, had you just dropped people's connections instead of spamming them.

I had a good laugh! No doubt, since you (Crashed) were one of the people behind this debacle. Though, it actually did have a meaning! It was a basic central chat for quite a few people. Anyone who wasn't worthy, spammed, other wise they had a fun chatting environment. Spamming someone who simply joins to check out something they see on the pager is indefensible. You had other ways of keeping them out. But the real point of it clearly was that you wanted to mock anyone who would join "Diablo II - BYOND!" if they saw it on the pager or the live list; you kept a list of your victims for just that purpose. DBZ Ultriment did something similar, but in that case it was clearly within the bounds of good taste and a practical joke. The difference was that nobody's connection was hassled by spam, and the marks only wasted on it whatever time they spent trying to make a character. It also had strong indications that it was a joke, which users didn't have to endure spam to see. What's this hub abuse? There's no hub entry! That's even worse. It makes it harder to tell who's behind it, and impossible for users to check on its legitimacy. The only way for moderators to deal with it is to make an educated guess about who the perps are and ban them. What about if you copy someone's entire hub entry's html page... then use it as your own? I think that that is closer to hub abuse, so I don't think you should be talking about that, okay Goz? ;) It's another type of hub abuse to be sure. That one is hub abuse doesn't mean the other is not. Lummox JR |

hehe Forgetme, shilling with your alternate keys just to make this "prank" look legitimate in the eyes of a made-up victim is pretty low. Almost as low as a half-apology over the ordeal, or AZA's sham regret mixed with a link to a list of everyone who fell for it. Not only should you (plural) never have done it in the first place, but by now you should have learned from people's indignation just how crummy a thing it was to do. The only thing you've learned is not to do the exact same thing again. But you didn't consider how this would affect others before, and you aren't considering it now, so I can expect you'll be a problem in the future in some different way. If any of the three of you had gleaned any wisdom out of this experience, you would have stopped trying to defend your actions or downplay the fact that they were malicious. As it is now, you're just digging deeper. Lummox JR |
