Sometimes getting to 'sophisticated' with photoshop makes the game look too newbish. (To me, at least. Conaire nearly went overboard for FX, but stayed on the safe side.)

I'd like to at some point, but for now I feel like it's pretty unfinished. For one, the maps are laid out exactly like the arcade games, so that's borderline copyright infringement. I'd also like to add a few unique elements to the game (besides multiplayer), but so little time!

Whoa, hold your horses! Stop jumping to conclusions. If you take the time to read my post properly, I'm not saying anything against Paint itself at all:

I don't mean to toot my own horn... But I think simplicity is the route to go.

I just took a photoshop shape template, and surrounded it with some skewed circles, then cut the circles in half, put the back half behind the shape, then erased the back half about 45%, then the front half about 30%, then put three small opaque circles on those half-erased circles. Then I just merged down the layers all together. Afterwards, I applied a darken only diffusion filter, and then blurred the image. I took the images into Microsoft Paint, then inverted the colours.

As for the text, I used a font called "Scythe", and did nearly the same thing along the line of filters, and colour inversion.

For the smaller text on the two larger banners, I used the default "Garamound" font with a faux bold attribute applied, once again, the same filters were used.
