I was pretty surprised when I searched the boards, and found only a few posts about A+ Certifications. Well for those who don't know what it is, it's basically the mastery over computer hardware and installing/upgrading/fixing Operating Systems. You have to do major studying, and take a hardware test, and an operating system test. If you pass you get you certificate and can work at most major computer shops.

I borrowed 3 books on A+ Training from the local library seeing as I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars for it. I'm catching on pretty fast...so does anyone else here certified in anything, or thinking about or trying to get certified. After this i'm thinking about getting a Network+ or Server+ certificate.

So any hints, suggestions, tips or just comments, Thanks.
I have the A+ book from Microsoft. Too bad the test is so expensive.

Yeah, its like $120 each or something. I don't think the money is gonna be a problem, i'm wondering, does anyone know if this can count toward college credits?
My high school gives shop classes for A+ Certification and I'm taking them so nyah!

CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Qualified Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a CCIE written exam on or after October 1, 2004>

Do you know if you have to retake the A+ Examp every 3 years?

No, once you are certified for anything+ you are good to go for life unless the technology dramatically changes.

Oh, well my friend is over right now and he says that you need to take 4 half year courses, and then you finish the course, and then you are ready to take the exams.

For CCNA or network+? To my knowledge CCNA is the only one with the 4 half year courses CCNA1-2 and CCNA3-4.
