Personally, I wouldn't mind meeting a girl who shared my interests. If she can thrash me in Quake 3, even better. =P

"Female gamers" They do not exist, they are only a myth like bigfoot. This myth has been going around for a long time but everyone knows its not true. |

I am glad to see that. I think girls should get more involved with the gaming industry. Like the article states, girls would probably be more into team work then most guys would. That could help out the team a lot. They also think differently then guys, such as tactics and all. Sure, guys think this stuff too and can also be into team work. But girls do think different then guys, most of them, and I think they could be a good contribution to the team.

When they say not welcome... It's not actually correct. I would say they are more welcome than anything else, encouraged even.

The part about seperating the sexes into different leauges is just stupid.
I mean in basketball or volleyball or any physical sport, males are generally stronger. But in a videogame? Jesus, all you need is some eyes, wrists and 10 fingers that are capable of working properly. Most professional gaming turns into a mental sport. All the players have maxed out their skills as far as the game permits and then the true challenge is what team can work better together, or who has the best strategies. And I'm sure a team full of women aged 22-30 could outwit a team of 14-16 year olds. |

A lot of girls however just play their husband's games and tend to not really care about the game much.
My brother observed this because he is an avid player of like all of the MMORPGs and now he has become pretty chauvinist. This is what he says (Basically): "Girl gamers are semi-rare. Good girl gamers are very rare. The reason? They aren't in the game to play, they are in the game to chat. They like to be in the online world and socialize with the other players. Being this, I have found that 95% of the girls who play, suck at it because they just don't care like a guy does." I do agree with this, for girls just aren't interested in this kind of stuff. I commend the very few that actually are, however... You have a different trait that is very nice to have... You can play a game like that andd actually enjoy playing it. |

I know of a co-ed team here in Germany that regularly (though not everytime) beats the pants off some of Europe's greatest CS teams, and the woman score as many kills/points as their male team-mates. I think the trend that says "girls suck at it because they don't care" is no longer true. Granted, there are not as many competent woman players just yet, but those who are can easily hold their own. |

If that's not playing the game right, then they need to take out the phrase "role playing" and just call them MOGs. :P

True, but you can role play in those games. People tend to find me very odd when I start role playing in FFXI, what with my poems about my homeland of Windurst, and my odd feeling that people shouldn't run around doing thier shopping in armor, that is just tacky, they have formal wear, like nice robes and formal hats. Nobody else seems to get it.
I try to avoid the standard /shouts like "|Tele-Mea| |Do you have it?| |You can have this.| 500g"(the |s show auto translated text). I try to go for more of a "Can anyone help me get over to the |Mea| |Creg|, I will pay the large amount of 500 gil to anyone willing to take the time." There are size restrictions on text though, so the size is forced down a little. There are many other little things I do to better emerce myself into the game, but we dont have all day. |
Alot of those females on halo maybe......I get killed by females alot......Or males named molly o.o..

Socializing isn't role playing. You can role play someone socializing but you can't socialize while role playing.
Killy McSmash, the giant Ogre woman, wouldn't talk about the latest episode of Friends while hunting deadly Skele-gnomes, that's TeenieGrrlPrincess16 talking. [Realistically I doubt ANYONE who plays MMORPGs, male or female, would talk about the latest episode of Friends, but you get what I'm saying] |
