Well, they both are basicly computers, but the X-Box is very much like a PC. So much so that it is extreamly easy to crack into it and install linux. PS2s, on the other hand, have very few linux distros, only one I know of was released by Sony and is made to prevent most forms of disk isoing and whatnot. The PS2 uses a lot of hardware that was made just for it, and nothing else, the X-Box, however, runs off of mostly standard PC parts.

But they're still mostly used in Apple computers. Technically they're not specifically Apple parts, but they're much more Apple than Intel. So what if his terminology wasn't exact? HavenMaster acted like he was completely wrong, which he wasn't; he was only partially wrong.

Thats because A) Xboxs already have Hard Disks so they are a lot easier to mod. B) Xboxs are close to a pc, so they can use linux. C) PS2 mods are illegal. D) The PS2 uses specialized hardware just like a XBOX does, the reason the games run so well is because the games are optimized for the system. Thats the problem with todays PC, there are so many different pieces of hardware and compatability between them is something that has to be there. I dont think XBOX really bust people for modding there consoles, whereas PS2 do. Anyway its not like you cant just copy a PS2 game and burn it onto a DVD then play it using a mod chip. |

XBox mods are illegal as well.

Then how do companies in Australia sell premodded XBOX's and mod your xbox for you?

Different laws nationally.

Umm, you are saying it is illegal to mess with your own property? I think not. It is agenst the TOS for the X-Box to mod it, but people still do. A hard drive can begotten for the ps2, yet few linux distros exist. "B) Xboxs are close to a pc" That is basicly what I said. PS2s have many more parts that are made specialy for the PS2. The X-Box uses almost 100% PC parts.

No offence or anything, but can you please not talk about what parts are in the X-Box and all, and where they rae from, ETC. Nobody really cares or anything (sorry if I sound mean, but I am not trying too). We just like to play it. I never though a conversation about an X-Box could get so boring. O.o You guys are saying the same thing "X-Box is made from Apple parts." "No it's not." "X-Box is made from Apple parts." "No it's not." "X-Box is made from Apple parts." "No it's not." We get it already. XD

I don't see you having anything to contribute here, except to come into the thread and tell us that it's boring! Get with the times! Get with the program! Tsk tsk. Casual gamer, and all that. |

I wish people would get off the Halo Train. Its getting stupid. Ive played FPS for years, and halo doesnt even match up to some of the ones Ive played.
Not to mention, alot of the new stuff in Halo 2, has already been in alot of FPS for PC since the early 1990s. The things Halo uses in the 2nd version, should of already been in the first. Im also getting quite tired of buying a new system every few or so, its getting to the point, that buying a new PC every couple of years is getting cheaper. Technology is moving way too fast. I dont like it. |

The thing that made halo so great was the fact that it has such a perfect environment. Few first person shooters do as good of a job as halo in creating a believable and fun gameworld. Halo DOES match up to other first person shooters. The computer game is available to you, and is extremely good even when compared to other First person shooters.
Nothing else is like it. Halo doesn't have any Germans to shoot, vietcong to slaughter, or any jetpacks to zoom around on. So, yeah, I guess compared to other first person shooters it is lacking the typical ingredients that the genre seems to be glued together with. I'm all for a little diversity in my games, and Halo 2 fixes EVERY complaint that I had about the first... Except maybe landmines... |
