It's bad fourm ettiquetee (sp?) to type a subject in the topic line and make a one word...not even a word inside the message.
That's pathetic. People can't wait 2-5 days for more to come in?

I really fail to see why people need to buy games/see movies before everyone else does... Is getting Halo 2 or seeing LotR the climax of their entire life? I think that is when stuff like this turns from a hobbie, to an obsession.

Yeah. I usually wait two weeks for just about everything in theatres, and usually two months to two years for just about everything in computer games.

The exception is new GTA games. But I never wait in line or anything stupid like that. I pre-order those (or hint that I would like a birthday present and casually mention that there's no way I'd get such-and-such birthday present if it wasn't pre-ordered). But that's because I kick royal butt in the GTA games, and I'm generally so impressed by them that I don't mind paying full initial retail price.

If EB were to sell off my reserved copy? ...Well, let's just say that the media isn't entirely wrong about the personality of gamers. *chambers a round* ;-)

Yah. I'm happy as long as I see it, or as long as I get to play the game when I can afford it. I also tend to wait until they are cheaper, being I'm not very cash-worthy. I'm not going to suffer in a line for 14 hours in the rain to see a movie on the first day.

I enjoy Halo, but wouldn't go to that to an extreme as some have. Although I think it is cool that happened. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. A bit crazy, but eh =P

Those people are INSANE. I have more fun ways to waste my time. =P

Firstly, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Yeah, it looks good, but it's nothing we haven't seen before in other games. Secondly, WHY would you stand in a queue waiting for midnight just so you can KEEP waiting in a queue and EVENTUALLY get back home to play the game but be so tired from staying up all night that you can't concentrate on the game properly?

Insane.

Yep, I pre-ordered my GTA too. There was actually a line to pick up the pre-orders when they were released at 7 PM, but I was the first in the line so it was no problem. :)

Crispy, you have to think! =P The people who are that obsessed about the game are probably running off a natural high the second the game boots up after installation. I am very sure they found the energy to play. Back when I had time to really play a game and what not, I'd be the same way. Not to that extreme, but people like that get a natural high out of the excitement. I wish someone posted the stats of how many servers/players were on the night of the release. Anyone know?

What I mean is, I pre-order it (or have someone else pre-order it ;-)) and have EB set it aside, then I pick it up (or have someone else pick it up ;-)) at my leisure. Since I put down a $10 deposit on it, it'd theoretically be a crime if they sold my pre-ordered copy to someone else.

Tell that to them -_-
Wow, people actually stood in line till midnight, then even hours later just to get a game? Thats insane, I just simply went into EB games and bought it the next day...
There was a seventy dollar Metallica and Godsmack concert here on the eighth and people actually left early to wait in line for Halo 2. O.O

Metallica = Punk rock whimps now.

God smack = Smacked god and doesn't exist anymore.

Tell me about it. The day it came out, around 9:00 P.M. I just walked into Best Buy, picked up 'Halo 2' off the shelf, walked up to the cash register, and bought the game. Simple as that. Must have took me about 25 seconds, if not less.

I would also like to add that Halo 2 sucked. I loved the first Halo. I was waiting for Halo 2 to come out for over three years. And I have to say, I was completely disappointed. Each level was about 12 - 15 minutes, literally. The first Halo had two hour levels, and much more detailed with huge maps. Halo 2 had very small tight area maps. No where to go but down a small path the entire way. The game was incredibly easy. There were no big areas whatsoever. I did not die once. I did not even have my bar reach half way through the entire game. If you ask me, they focused more on the graphics then the gameplay or anything else. I mean, that is all they talked about. Halo 2 sucked ass! Halo one was awesome.

Did you completely miss The Outskirts? I've played the level a few times and I've never gone through the city, just rooftop to rooftop a couple different ways. =) It did seem like the open areas in Halo 2 were more for jumpers though, whereas the original Halo just had open areas to walk through. The game did seem shorter, it seemed like they had about six levels and split them up into smaller parts. If it's too easy for you though, you should crank up the difficulty. A lot of people who played both seem to rate Halo 2's Heroic difficulty slightly harder than Halo:CE's Legendary.

Bungie must have convinced MS to get what they wanted in Halo 2. In the original Halo, Bungie had made some great maps, but Microsoft wanted a really long game, so they copy & pasted a lot of stuff and added filler.

Halo 2 on Legendary, is way harder then the Original Halo's Legendary Mode, i've tried to go through on Heroic, and found it extremley frustrating (especially when your trying to board an enemy Wraith and your marine followers are firing at the Wraith your trying to board with the Warthog's Turret, although I did like the improved AI, my only problem with it is mentioned above, oh and yeah, I stood outside my local Wal-mart all night with about $60, and ended up going in at 7:00 AM, and coming out at 7:15 AM with about $15 left over, and the Halo 2 Limited Collector's Edition in hand :)
When this reporter relayed the story of the "Halo" fan who had deleted his pirated copy of "Halo 2" out of guilt. Microsoft's Moore rapidly nodded his head in understanding.

"For these people it's like stealing the Bible, it's that sacred," said Moore who then recounted how he went through the online message boards after the incident and read of "Halo" fans renouncing the piracy or saying that while they will download the illegal version, they will still buy the legal copy.

Hardy-har-har! This reminds me of that SNL bit of George Lucas, how they send a news reporter to his house and tried to gather some valuable information of the creator of "Starwars". Friggin' religious "game", phah! Down with Microsoft's XBox! They're enough of a monopoly as it is!
