Yep though according to a friend who purchased the game even if you buy a box copy you have to verify over the internet that it isn't a pirated copy. And at the moment this verification process isn't exactly smooth with everyone tyring to do it.

You do realize that you are part of the cause that makes publishers put this annoying protection schemes on software in the first place. You're not only hurting the industry by pirating software you're the reason for these annoyances that plague people who legally obtain the games.

Then maybe they shouldn't make it so god damn expensive and I might think of buying it.

No you wouldn't. You'd start claiming that it's too much hassle to go down the street and get a game that only costs $10.
I'll admit that games do cost a lot of money, but you're just hiding behind that.
Also there's the fact that if they didn't have to spend so much money on anti-pirate technology the price probably would come down (although probably not by that much).

It's very annoying to have to go out and buy a second copy of a game just to play multiplayer on two different computers. I doubt these anti-pirate systems will ever be removed but it's very frustrating to do the right thing while have to support other people who wont.

boo hoo.

If you don't want to pay for a game then don't, but don't steal it.
In response to Jermman
Would you say boo hoo if you were working for a living and your employer randomly decided not to pay you one day? That's the same thing you're doing.

You must have a lot of cool stuff with all the money you save by pirating games. I want cool stuff, but it's all too expensive. Can I have the address of your house and some burglar tools?

Games are too expensive in America eh? Well, over here in the UK, any new games that are released are usually about $75 so unless thats how much they cost over there, stop complaining.

Not really, Gamesabre :)

Our games are 40 quid!

Heh, as it turns out that's the way the companies that program video games work :-)
Look at the recent EA debacle.

They might even help you. Anyone can pre-load the content. You download most of the game from fast servers and are then just a crack away. I wonder if Valve thought of that.

CS Source has been cracked, my friend says he can play on online servers without even having a HL2 cd key. And he doesnt even need steam.

*cough* uhhh yes, america...
Hah! Here I have to pay ONE HUNDRED BUCKS for a game! (No exaggeration folks, that's true.)

Of course, that's in Australian dollars, not "What, you mean there's other currencies?" dollars... ;-P

Thats not because of the preload. Thats because somebody who was in the beta let the files slip.
