Has anyone played this game? It is the Best First Person shooter to date. It came out recently. This game has INSAINE graphics, a Good storyline, interactive game play, and a very good storyline that continues from Half-life 1. This game has set records. All good games from now on will be compared to half-life 2. The only game that might have remotley good graphics and physics enguine as it is Farcry. This game is also going to be the stepping stone for some of the worlds best mods. The physics enguine is to die for, I mean you can pick up everything that would be pickupable in real life like a bottle, you can throw it on the ground and it would break depending what you throw it on, then you can pick each peice up and depending on how big it is throw it again if it's big enough to break again it will if it's small it wouldn't break just hit that surface Also you can walk into stuff to push it if it's movable. The game uses very good equations to do it too. With the effects and everything i'd say it's near perfect. Since this is the best game to date and because it breaks records the games they develop better than this are going to be seriously godly, like Half-life 3 thats coming out in a few years. This also prooves my theory that PC and their games are better than any console.
I paid 50 bucks and cant play it because they know the bug i have encountered but valve told me it will be awhile untill they fix/patch it. Screw Valve.

Which is why PCs may be better, but consoles are more fun. =P

Well while it did only take them over half a decade to release this game, no game release is ever perfect. So if you keep this mentality up with every PC game you play, then you might as well never play one again. However, I personally do not like how Valve is building their system. Especially since they require people to be online to play most of their games in singleplayer, just to stop piracy. I personally only play singleplayer games when I'm either bored, or my internet connection is out. I'd say that 97% of that time is when my internet connection is out.(Well except for games like Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, which is an exceptional game. Not to mention it uses the Half-Life 2 Source engine. Too bad they didn't incorporate enough with physics besides a few basic things.)
Nowhere near perfect.

Of course given the power of a decent PC you can emulate consoles and play games with more quality than the original system can provide. Unfortunantly some companies(mainly Nintendo) make it exceedingly difficult to do it legally as they don't use standard mediums to store their games :P. Regardless decent console games that I find entertaining are becoming less and less frequent especially now that all the previous advantages of consoles have almost all been eliminated with the newer consoles.

What you said about having to play online is completely false, that's just a ploy to catch illeagle copies. I downloaded the game myself since I didn't feel like buying it. Acctually there is a feature to steam called, "Offline mode" which is that I did in order to not get Banned. I would have loved to buy their game and support them but I really don't have the money. Yes I agree there are like two errors in retail they forgot like that memory error. But this game is very revolutionary, if you think this game isn't that good you obviously havn't played through it entirley or have lagged to much to try.

Those two statements say fairly different things. The first says that you're a lazy criminal. The second says that you're a criminal acting selfishly.

But at least they have something in common.

BUY THE GAME, its awesome, they added in HL2 DM and its the best multiplayer game i've ever played. HL2 is the best game for its single player too, i love it. The steam online activation stuff is so that the game cant be pirated as easily.
I'm pretty sure Far Cry's engine is more advanced, but Half-life 2 is fun. I lost most interest in it pretty fast when I started playing Far Cry, but Counter-strike: Source is still fun to play on occasion. Well worth the buy at any rate.
My cousin Eric K who works for Valve did a lion's share of work on the game's graphical engine applications. In multiplayer, I hear there's an enemy that looks like a demonized version of him - I've never seen it, but it will be fun if I ever do. There was a book released about the making of Half Life 2 and his artwork was featured page after page. He was mentioned many times as an excellent graphical designer and after a flood of requests for interviews from other graphics companies were sent to Eric, Valve decided to double his already impressive pay and give him an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii to keep him on board. No, I'm not giving out his contacts!

So, if you consider Eric a successful graphics designer, here's a recipe for success: Get passing grades in high school, wear unnecessarily baggy clothes, spend time surfing when you should be working, live in Seattle, take a lot of trips home to see mom, get a thousand job offers after presenting your college portfolio, choose to work for Valve... put into oven for about 2 years and you're on the gravy train!

Your Cousin is awesome, I havn't seen the graphical system yet. I was wondering are the levels different for different diffuculties? I saw screen shots of two things I never saw in the game, a bigger version of kliners lab where your attacked and alex is there, and a monster like the one in that movie final fantasy not the game where it's a blue tenticle and it comes out of the water. I never saw that monster. I'm actually going to go spend the money to buy it tonight. To justify what I did. Cause I love valve. =P

Combine: throw away the can

HHAHAHAHAHAH, That part is the best. If you can, can you get him to ask valve WHAT THE FECK gman is? I think He put gordan in a matrix thing as a baby, and are they developing a new enguine for half-life 3? If so, god damn it would be awesome.
I have never played Half-Life 1 nor 2. Are there any Half-Life's inbetween those two? Like special editions and all? I want to start buying them and trying them hence I have heard so many good things about this game (sounds kind of like Deus Ex, being able to pickup everything and throw them).

There's also HL: Opposing Force and and HL: Blue Shift, which basically go through the same story from different perspectives. I recommend the Half-Life Platinum Pack, which includes a bunch of games for a pretty low price.

There are also a lot of free mods for it out there (and it has a great system for handling mods, so they're very easy to install).
Some of them aren't anything special, but others are rather well done. It makes the game itself very good value for the money since even after you've beaten the original you can still find new games to play using it.

Yeah, half-life is a stepping stone for insaine mods. Like Counter-strike, Natural Selection, Day of Defeat, and plenty more. The Specialists which is a multi player version of the matrix with different models and stuff, you can even slow time down it's cool. ;)
