When I was playing Anarchy online the sound echoed terribly. Voices had to say each word three times and even the music echoed. Very annoying it was. I have had the same experience using emulators such as ZNES. Does anyone know what could be wrong and have a solution to it?
Then you would automatically assume that it was one of these things: speakers, an output/input setting, an enviroment from your sound card, or the game itself. (Even the emulator, if that's what you are using ..you didn't state that so i don't know.)
Try updating your drivers, including things like DirectX. A lot of times the manufacturer supplies out of date drivers that produce subpar results.
Put on headphones, that will stop the echo.

Sad thing is, I don't own headphones. :o

Um... I think the echo was most likely a computer problem, not a problem with the space he's in. Surely changing from speakers to headphones would only help if the speakers were faulty?

Not that I know much about such things, but I do have a brain. =)
Here's something to try...
In control panel, there's a "sounds and audio devices" button. Click on that button, and then click on the "Advanced" button for speaker settings in the window that pops up. Then click on the "Performance" tab. Try turning down the sample rate conversion quality from Best to Good. If that doesn't work, try turning down the hardware acceleration amount.

If you can't find anything I'm talking about, get Windows XP or look around in your version of windows for it. :P
I know 98 has a very similar control, I just can't remember where. :)

I went to that area before last night but I didn't adjust anything, now, however when I click advance I get a pop up alert that says ''DirectSound not available.;; I wonder what could be causing that..

Edit: I found away around it. Nevermind.. Thanks ^^

Edit: It still echoes for me. Strange I just can't figure out why it is doing that.

I redownloaded DirextX to make sure I had the highest version, but I have the same result.. I am not sure what you mean by updateing my drivers, how would I do that?

There are specific files that your system uses to interact with your sound card. These resources sometimes need to be updated and are usually availible through your the homepage of your card's manufacturer.

Thank you, That worked just perfectly! No more echoe and the quality of my sound is greater then ever! :D
