How can I convice someone not to do something to their self. She used to be a cutter but me and some of her friends got her to stop..There's alot of problems in this girls life that I know. Her family is abusive (not physically, mentally) and theres a hole lot of stuff going wrong in her life right now. Her mother and grandmother treat her like [expletive deleted], actually her whole family does. She thinks she has nothing to live for..What can I say to her..?

I'm all for friends helping friends, but sometimes it just isn't enough.

Tell a parent. Counselor. Someone who will take action.

This is true.

Your situation is nothing uncommon to what my friends have went through. One in particular -- No parents (Mother died, both fathers left her), raped, in abusive households.

Talk to her constantly. Nothing will make someone forget about those like knowing someone is there. And threaten with getting the police involved. I told the girl I explained that I would get the police to take her out of her home, if she didn't move in with her grandpa who lived pretty far away from me. (she's my girlfriend by the way) And she moved, and is better off for it. And yes, had she stayed there, i would;ve got the police involved.

It would take, quite literally, at least half an hour to trim out the bad posts and reattach the good ones to the thread.

It was easier to simply delete the entire irrelevant subthread and allow the good ones to vanish as well.

If anyone wants to post their legitimate responses again, they can feel free to do so, but if this post gets out of hand, moderators won't take it too lightly. This is a serious topic, and probably not suitable for BYOND anyway.
