Ummm, enzymes simply speed up chemical reactions. Hence the acid would burn so quickly through things. But it would not enable an acid to corrode anything it could not normally corrode.

But comics aren't known for their scientific accuracy....

You're thinking of Catalysts.
Enzymes can do loads of things, you just have to build them right.
