I am having some problems installing games for Steam, if anyone knows the anwswer(s) to these, please reply, it would be very much appreciated.
I have Steam, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, and Counter-Strike: Source. Well, I decided to download Digital Paintball for steam and ESF (Earth's Special Forces) but I am having some problems. Well, the downloading part worked for both games, it is the installation process I am having problems with. For the Digital Paintball game, when I double-click the installation icon to install it, the "Next" button is not highlighted and I cannot click it. For the ESF (Earth's Special Forces) game, when I click on the intallation icon to install it, I click "Next", "Next" again, and the "Install" button is not highlighted, so I cannot click it. Does anyone have the answer(s) to how I can get the installation process to work? I tried posting it on their help forums but I received numerous answers that were very unlikely to be true. Please help. Thank you.

Yeah, hes right. They're mods that run off the HL 1 engine, the HL 2 engine is WAYYYYYY better though.

You can go to wal-mart and buy a copy of Half-Life or Blue-Shift or Opposing Force, for 5 bucks, and use the included cd key to unlock all the HL1 games.

Well thats not the case everywhere. Alot of Walmarts are not getting rid of the invidual cd packs and just trying to sell off the Half-Life Box Set, with HLF 1 and all of the offical expanions.
Its $40.00 and you get like 6 CDs. Its worth it. It comes with a nice big manual and stuff. One thing I dont like about PC gaming as much any more is the content. back in the day you paid like $75.00 for a new PC game, but it came in a big arse box, it came with a novel for a manual, usually in full color. It came with maps, and comic books and all sorts of stuff. Alot of times youd get key chains, action figures, or other toys. One time i picked up this old bargin bin DOS game at a flea marker, never been opened.. It came with the game, on CD, it came with a 255 page manual, hard covrer, full color. It came with a guide and maps. The maps were made out of CLOTH. It also came with a key chain, a limited edition 12 sided dice and a plush toy of one of the monsters. Now thats value. Now all you get is these tiny cardboard boxes.. with black and white manuals, and alot of times now, you dont even get that. Most games are too cheap to even give you a nice PLASTIC CD case, they come in those paper things, or in a cardboard sleeve. |

I think you are kind of over pricing PC games from "back in the day".

No I am not, I even have a old Mac game magazine, where you could directly buy games for it.
There is a listing for Uninvited Mac OS version for $80.00 Video games, both PC and councle edition used to cost alot of money. My camador 64 coast $400 by itself. |

You could at least pay the ol' C64 a bit of respect: Commodore 64.
I have several old games, and in each one a full printed manual, a help sheet, a registration card, and in one a keyboard overlay. They all have £39.99 stickers on them. I got 'em for about £1 each. |

Hahaha, I can see if I still have it. I haven't used it in a long time.
If you want I could check out my good will, my friend just picked up a Atari with 50 games, all the games were unopened. He paid $20.00 for it all. |

no chance of that due to hardware limitations for the later, but the former is doable now - Contiki http://www.sics.se/~adam/contiki/ sports many applications, including a webserver http://www.sics.se/~adam/contiki/apps/webserver.html

Are you people done hijacking my thread yet? If you are not, I suggest you create a new thread so the people who want to answer my question, instead of changing the topic on me, can answer it. Thank you.

Thank you. They have already told you why: "They're mods that run off the HL 1 engine" So either get a mod that will run with HL2 or go out and Buy HL1. |

Ok, if you ever drop by the states and are in or around North Carolina, give me an email and I will give you your handshake.
