I ran Spyware Docter on my comp i had 1265 infections i deleted them all the comp was still slow.
I called my dad up on the phone and told him the laptop was getting slow. He comes home and blames it on me. He tells me all his computers are infected with spyware and its all because of Byond. Then he tells me not to play Byond for a week -_-'. ?? Can i get some info is this true?.Doesnt make much sense to me.

Dad's are idiot's sometimes, my dad blames all my games and [stuff] for all that goes wrong with the computer...unless he did a spyware check and it came from byond o.o
|
Sure it's not your dad that is getting the spyware? ;P
Anyhow, I don't see how nor why BYOND would give it to you(unless you are using the browser to go places you shouldn't, of course). Even then I'm still unsure as to if it would just work like IE or whatever. Hmm. |
I doubt BYOND would have spyware.
1) It's for MAKING games, BYOND does not keep track of any personal info, or causes it to be slow, or anything like that. 2) I THINK after like 5 years of development, someone would have noticed, and reported it. 3) Are you sure it's not a GAME that's laging it? Sometimes when a game locks up, it causes the whole computer to run a little bit slow. |
No, it's not true.
But this is the truth, Spyware comes from "you" and "anyone" who uses the laptop to download software and browse the web. You said you used spyware doctor, so I would go download Microsoft anti-spyware (2k & XP only) and use it also to clean the leftovers and give the computer a nice defrag. That should help speed it back up. Then download XP SP2, Fire Fox and also download spyware blaster to stop any future infections on IE. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html |

If you've got infectious spyware (which we may as well start calling network-capable viruses, let's be honest), it's not because of BYOND. It's because of other software you've installed, or possibly sites you've visited with a supremely insecure browser (if using IE) which exploit security holes to install software without your knowledge.
