Oh my God, has anyone ever played the X-Box game (or perhaps other game consoles as well) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? This game is amazing! I bought this game about a week after it came out, but for months (I think over a year) left the game sitting on its shelf. A few days ago stared at it and said "Ah, what the hell...." I stuck the game in the X-Box and started playing it and I was blown away. This game has everything from an awesome (and also fun) battle system, massive adventuring, very balanced characters and enemies, amazing graphics, extremely fun gameplay, ETC. this game has it all!

I have been playing this game on and off for a few days and currently have a total playtime of 21 hours and 34 minutes and I am still no where near completeing the game. I am only on the second planet. There are tons and tons of planets to explore. You can talk to any and every character you make contact with. The towns, deserts, grasslands, and the entire planet are very, very well detailed. I would give this game a 10/10 and I recommened anyone who has not played this game to go and play it. I know this game has been out for awhile now, but, oh my God it is awesome. I hardly even like Star Wars but this game is great!
Yea, I've replayed it on my PC just a few days ago :P. It's one of the best RPGs made.

I have. I liked it a lot, but it didn't really bring much new stuff besides the story. It was a good game, but another thing was I found it too short. It still took me a good amount of time to beat it, but not as long as the first one.
Yeah, I got it for christmas. Its great, but my only real complaint is that I cant fly a ti fighter in it... I guess for that I have to play galactic conquest for battlfield or star wars battlefronts.

Ive spent close to 10 hours on the first planet alone. Its great.
I agree -- Knights of the Old Republic is by far the best Star Wars game that I've played (Even though the Jedi Knight series is really fun too, it's just a different style). It has a pretty long playtime (I don't see how you've spent that long on it and only to the second planet -- I believe my total play time was 25 hours). I've heard that the sequel isn't as good, but I'm still psyched about playing it. Unfortunately, it's not out on PC yet.

The only downside, is that I bought a 128 MB Radeon SE, which apparently isn't too good for gaming. I need to buy one that can withstand the awesome power of KotOR and perhaps even Thief: Deadly Shadows.

I'm getting a new computer soon. I have about 1000 $ to spend on, but I don't know which brand or model to get. I need a good computer that will allow me to play Unreal Tournament 2004, and other games that might need a good console to run.

I saw Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic at Walmart, but I passed it up so I could purchase the Star Wars Trilogy on Dvd. It was great.

Wow, that is pretty fast. I am on my fifth planet and have a total playtime of 30+ hours. This game, though, has a few spelling errors. I actually expected it though hence they have so many words in that game it is insane. I mean, being able to interact with every character you see calls for a ton of spelling errors, but suprisingly, this game only has about two or three, from which I have spotted. In one coversation (I do not remember the exact ones) instead of saying "your" it says "yoru". Also, in another conversation the character says "And I can here it" when the "here" was supposed to be "hear". At any rate, this game is amazing. =P

I wish I had a X-box maybe I'll buy one and play the game my birthday is comming in may.
Dang, I just wrote out a long post, then lost it when the forums asked me to log in anew. Here's the short version:

I played KOTOR on a friend's Xbox but didn't make it off the first planet because we ran out of time and he had to pack up the Xbox. I liked it, though. For jealous PS2 owners, I recommend Summoner, which is similar to KOTOR in many ways.
I have both played and beaten Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic One AND Two. I beat them both in about a day to 25 hours each the first time around. They are both very excellent games, although the beginning part of the second one is a little annoying to get past, but after that, it gets way better, because, unlike part one where you must become a Jedi, you are already one at the beginning. The only drawback is that you do not get a lightsaber until killing an enemy with or or build one in the or around the middle of the game.

You forgot to warn people that Summoner is a pretty old game, although I did enjoy it. I can't really see how it is like KOTOR in any way, though, besides the generic DnD system. I really liked the extra cut scenes they had in Summoner, where they had the monsters playing a board game and they were argueing about what should happen on the next turn.

KOTOR 2 is to KOTOR what Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is to Star Wars: A New Hope.

That is to say, the former is considerably worse than the latter.

Most of the reasoning behind KOTOR 2 being worse is that they had to rush it out the door. The story is great, but the gameplay sucks, and there are obviously missing portions which were clearly cut from the game in order to meet a senseless deadline -- for instance, they had to remove an entire planet to meet the release date.

Hopefully you'll get lucky and they'll release an 'extended edition'. Although whether or not that should be considered lucky is up for debate.

The thing I find strange about KotOR is they've got ads for it running on MTV pretty frequently. Since when is the target audience for Star Wars games teenage girls?

Well, it was one of the PS2's release titles if I remember right, so it's a few years old -- but since my first console was a Pong-type game with two built-in paddles, I may have a different standard of what constitutes a "pretty old game." :)

Yeah, the setting and storyline are different, but the game structure of KOTOR struck me as very similar -- wandering around, talking to NPC's, getting side jobs, and so on. I guess there are many other console RPG's with a similar structure, but I haven't played very many of them, so Summoner was the closest match I could think of.
