That's the stupidest thing i've ever heard, World of WArcraft does fine because it's one of the biggest mmorpgs out, private servers KILL the game.

Congratulations! You've completely mis-interperated my post! Here's your grand prize ...

But all on the serious side, what I meant for your mind to come across is that private servers keep the game alive socially. It doesn't matter if it's ran by Satan himself, it's still World of Wacraft ... so it doesn't matter if the servers belong to Blizzard Entertainment or not. Private servers are there for the players whom don't like an update or patch and prefer an alternate way of playing ... thus creating the name "player servers". Now if you meant that "private servers KILL the game server's population" then you've got a point.

It says, in the TOG and I actually read the whole thing, "If you enter or host a server not autherized by Blizzard Entertainment(tm)..." then goes on about the consequences.

Who actually reads those anyways? I'm getting bored just reading a fraction of the sentence you've supplied me with off of the Terms of Service. *yawn*

Player servers keep game alive

Not really they take income away from the developers since players can play the private shards without paying for official accounts. This hurts the developers and makes it less likely the developers will continue to work on the game or develop a sequal. Should the developers stop running the official server then its another matter altogether but while the official one is still up it takes business away from them.

It's great to point out other games to try...but I can assure you, WoW has quite a lot of humor in it.

Try poking any NPC repeatedly, for example...

Or the series of quests where you give an incompetent Gnome scientist components, and he experiments on his Leper Gnome captive...accidentally turning him into a chicken who runs off, etc. The dialogue for that is hilarious (especially the Gnome Leper) as well as the wacky results.

Many quest names are jokes, as are NPC names.

The Gnome mounts, mechanical chickens, are jokes in themselves.

Then there's the fact that the way you put an enemy out of commission for a while is to turn him into a sheep...

Whether or not you decide to read up on what you are allowed to do and what you aren't and what the consequences are for disregarding them they still apply to you.

Nobody in SWG farms jedi without macros. If they did they wouldn't sell it since it's such a long and tedious grind, and I don't care if it helps someone get through college, most of the time it doesn't and the people stiff the other people on accounts.

The Private WoW servers are just watered down, actually they are drowned versions of the main game considering they can't crack most of the game like they can old games like UO or the Korean ones like RO or L2.

Runescape has a friendly community? "PLZ GIMME GOLD PLZ PLZ PLZ OMG LIEK LOL WTF!!1!1!1!1!!" You cannot trust ANYONE in Runescape, ive played Runescape many times before, if you lend someone money to be payed back, they certainly wont. Now World of warcraft on the other hand, its amazing how much people trust each other, people go around giving each other items in exchange for them to make something etc etc. EVERYONE helps a newbie, no matter what. People PROTECT you, if you're being totally owned by a high level monster any nearby people will try to help.

Just wanted to make my point WoW has the friendliest community ive ever seen.

Also, im a 41 Paladin on Stormscale server (Euro Version).

WoW has much humor, check out all the emotes for example. Many quests have a funny storyline and there are just little hidden things that spark up some more excitement to keep you playing. WoW owns.

The easter eggs are great too.

It's true that it's not just a community. As a priest I always stop to buff people and heal them. When somebody is getting beat by a omnster others will jump in and help. Unlike Runescape where people try and make you die etc.

That's not to say everybody is bad. A small minority of the community is great, but having to wade through a lake of crap to find your paradise island just isn't worth it.

Hmm, most have talked about WoW in reply to this(being a WoW thread, it doesn't surprise me). I played FFXI for a long time, it had it's fair share of humor and a ton of quest thoughout a map that is insanly large, but easy to travel (well, at least time wise, you run into some high level stuff pretty fast though). There are like 10 diffrent classes that can be mismatched to make a player that is all you. I have yet to be stiffed in the game and there is no PKing or looting of corpes so you don't have to worry about being killed. The graphics are GREAT! The visual effects for spells and such are top notch and do things I have never seen in any other game for PC. I am sorry, runescape does not come close, the only thing it beats it at is price. On top of it all, if you don't have a PC capible of playing it, it works on the PS2 with the PC players (only game that I know of that can do cross platform play)

FFXI is the definition of grind.

Yesterday, I saw a collectors edition of WoW with everything in it being sold, and it included the guy's account-- a level 43 troll shaman. The auction had been up for quite a while, never deleted. :P

I have 4 characters on Zul'jim (or some name like that,) they are:

1) Tauren Druid - Level 7
2) Human Priest - Level 4
3) Night Elf Hunter - Level 7
4) Undead Warlock - Level 5

I also have 1 character on Proudmoore:

Human Warlock - Level 6

Incase you were wondering why I have a bunch of different low-level chracters, it was because I just got the game the other day and I started over a few times =P.

Blah blah blah WoW has this, blah blah blah, DoC has this.

go play runescape members. Seriously. It costs less than other mmorpg's, you have thousands of ways to customize yourself, there is over 55 quests, there is so many different kinds of monsters, the graphics are good, the community is friendly, and one thing it has that NO other mmorpgs have is humor.

for example: I was doing this new quest in the desert, and I end up in this little town, were EVERYONE is named Ali. I was laughing soooo hard, ali the snake charmer, ali the camel salesman, ali the bartender, ali the mayor, even the girls names were shorted to ali (actually alice).

anyways, runescape pawns you.

HA HA HA HA HA WHAT EVER....
I play runescape and guess what i know the graphics are good and stuff but... what you mean a friendly community... does this sound friendly to YOU!!

"go away n00b"
"get lost n00b"
"friggen n00bs go away"
"your moms a fat *****"
"you a ****ing *** n00b"

THE LIST GOES ON!!
I prefer the community to the graphics actually. A good 2D system is better than a bunch of bad low poly models.
