Sana'teMUD is soon to be running, and its site is set up! Though the actual game isn't hosted yet, and the website is pretty empty, signing up will mean that you know when the game is hosted.

It's hard to get excited about anything vague. I just peeked around on the site and forum, and so far I know all of this AMAZING information:
-it's a mud -it's medieval-themed So exciting! Seriously, how can anyone get excited if that's all we're given? It's exceptionally difficult, given the fact that most MUDs are very boring (even if they are all original, etc) and are medieval-themed. I'm not saying that MUDs with themes other than medieval are automatically better, but it certainly helps. Want to get my attention? Don't have stock classes like "mage" and "warrior" and limit the player to that. Most of the time I decide to log into a random MUD, I get that. Mage, warrior, thief, cleric? Then I disconnect. That is probably the biggest turn-off for a MUD, having RESTRICTIVE classes. Having 500 classes is even worse, having too much to balance -- it's nearly impossible. Ideally, it should be classless. Classes make the game a grind, really, leaving no uniqueness to a character. Customization is key. That is all for now. :/ |

That's exactly what I do - see a MUD with boring, ordinary combat oriented classes and log off. I don't want to be a warrior, I want to be a builder, or a blacksmith. I prefer non combat roles, and I hardly ever see them.
And the MUD isn't specifically medieval-themed, but it could be likened to such a MUD. Like I said, I'm trying to get content onto the site ASAP, but the game is under fairly heavy construction as well as the site. |
