I'm dangerously close to getting my life successfully balanced... finding a way to juggle work, BYOND, chatting, and my career (which is separate from work)... which means it's time to think about adding another time suck.

So... anybody here play City of Heroes? Thoughts? Feelings? Opinions? ePinions?
Harhar, I think City of Heroes isn't all that fun; it's repetetive!
I recommend trying Rubies of Eventide, it's a great game (and it's free)!
City of Heroes is a decent enough MMORPG, it's more for fans of roleplaying, though, then getting a new set of equipment. If you get it, I recommend finding a good supergroup that is into roleplaying a lot, since the only content the game has to offer are missions, and all the missions wind up being the same. You run to person a and recieve mission information, then go to location b and enter location b, location b then generates a map and fills it with npcs which you and whoever is in your group goes to beat up. It's fun going through some of the story based missions and sucking up the background of various heroes, but it can get repetetive without any community interaction. Superpowers are fun to play with though, as you get a new one every two levels, and there are certain key levels which unlock new power sets for you to explore powers outside of your pools. Like at level 14 you can get a travel power, which involves teleportation, super jumping, super speed, and flight. Character customization is a lot fun, in fact I probably spent 50% of my time on that game in the character creation menu, because you really do have endless choices in customizing the way your superhero looks.

I'm not too keen on the type of game you'd like, but you seem to be more of the roleplayer than just straight up game mechanics based gamer, so I'd recommend this game to you. Plus, in the next upcoming months, a bunch of changes will arrive for the expansion, City of Villains, and so you'll get to start developing relationships with villains and becoming arch rivals, which sounds like fun to me, at least.

Yeah, I've heard it's more conducive to roleplay than most MMORPGs, which are pretty basic hack-and-slashers, which is one reason why it appeals to me. I'm also very very very very into the superhero thing... which actually is the one reason I've been leery about CoH from the get-go. I don't like it's power model. I think it would be more "realistic" (or true to the paradigm) to have a more flexible list of superpowers and make it so that you largely get all your powers at creation, and only advance in terms of power and skill with them. There could also be an option to make a weaker character who gets more powers as they advance, making for a character who has a lot of potential but takes more work.

in the game my guys name is sea man XD
Kusanagi summed it up pretty well.

I liked the game a whole lot, but my subscription ran out, so I tried out Guild Wars. Now I miss CoH. :P

When playing the game, I got sucked into an eternal cycle of making a character, getting a few levels, deleting that character, and making another-- but it was fun! :P

I loved spending large amounts of time customising my character at creation to make him exactly the way I imagined him, and then I had plenty of incentive to continue that character, because of the frequent new powers... but making more new characters was way funner.

A lot of people complain that the game gets repetetive, but I didn't feel it that much. There are lots of different kinds of places and baddies to fight, which are all creative.

But what's really amazing is the combat. I get lots of nostalgia when I remember the good ol' days of super leaping along giant bridges with a friend, smacking up some dudes, and leaping around some more. The travel powers are SOOOOOOOO fun! Flying was just too cool. :D
