I have the new version of Zonelab's free Zonealarm firewall, and the ability to open it up and change what programs can and cannot access the internet has been removed.

It is also blocking attempts from my computer to contact another computer on my network.

How do I tell it what programs and addresses to allow contact in the new version?
Does it give you a popup saying [whatever] has tried to access the internet and it gives you an allow or deny message?

Yes, but I want to be able to change things whenever I want by going to a program listing. Both so I don't have to wait for it to ask, and also because I occasionally change my mind about allowing something access, or clicked the wrong thing on accident.

On the right does it have a list of programs that can access the net? I had zone on my old computer but i think you can edit the programs allowed on the right panel?

As I said, I do not find an area of the program to do that in the new version I just downloaded.

Ah, now that I know those boxes are tabs I have found another tab that deals with addresses. I will look around this thing and see if it is what I need.

I have just found it. I think I see now what you meant by "on the right". In the Program Control section there are two tabs, the one on the right is for specific program control. I did not realise before that those things were supposed to be used as tabs.

I still have the problem of access by address instead of by program. It blocks transfer between the other computer on my network, and does not even ask if I want to allow it.

I got all the Zonealarm stuff done up now, but I still can't contact the other computer through the network even without the firewall interfering. =/

Oh well. And thanks for the help.

Any ideas as to why would be appreciated.
