My sound seems to be dead. I had for a while taken it that my sound card died, but for the heck of it I tried plugging in my mic and I can use that to input sound, just the computer won't output sound to my speakers. There are no shorts in the cord, and the speakers work fine with my little radio dingie. What could be the causes of this? Could it be my sound card? I had Mikehappy (key "Itisme") help me and he had me uninstall/reinstall some drivers, but that didn't seem to help.
Most likely it's the sound card, yes. You can pick up el cheapo ones for not very much.

OH JEST.

And yes, you've most likely fried your sound card. :)

I had a problem similiar to this, but all I had to do was reinstall my sound drivers and codecs - which fixed the problem.

I'd recommend picking up something that can at least do 3D sound, though, so you're prepared for--uh, life. (wink, wink)

meh I'd go with "el cheapo" because I'll probably get a new comp soon (I hope).

Also, could it maybe be a virus? There are some wierd viruses out there surely :P meh I don't have any scanning things on this computer I need to get some *gets 100 replies saying "omgz you're stupid"*

I'm stupid with you. I've got nothing except Spybot and it's my new computer.

well I don't have anything; though I doubt this computer has enough RAM and HD space to run today's spyware.

The irony is, I have a surround-capable soundcard, but only two speakers. =P

That's okay. Sometimes headphones are best for certain things. (nudge, nudge)

Yes, that is the absolute truth.
