Finally ive found a naruto game that 3d and thats not byond........... I cant wait till the alpha version is open and i pray to god that my piece of crap(meaning my computer) can take the game. Someone told me the site was www.naruto-online.net, They say it would be finished like at the end of this month (hopefully).
I smell lawsuit!

You smell nothing because people can buy liscences to the copyrights and use all of Naruto they want.

Shush, lawsuits are fun.
Then why are you posting in the BYOND games forum?

This company is far from a professional and legit one. They're probably just a band of kids trying to make the UlTimATE NARUTO game. They'll either fail miserably at the task or end up getting sued... this kind of stuff never works.

This project is better left dead.

Dude...if what you're saying is true, if FUNimation, or any anime owner for that matter, discovered BYOND....95% of the population is screwed over. They're not the only ones.

I THINK something similar happened to a Zeta game when they were making money off it (eg: donations)

Usually most companies leaves fan stuff alone unless that "fan stuff" is making money off of it and the company isn't getting any <.<

Umm... this is the Non-BYOND Gaming section ... atleast it is that in Games Forum not Developers Forum (Dev = Off-topic Gaming section) :X

You wanna know what half of Byond isnt shut down by FunImation or Atari [Atari currently holding all rights to any DBZ games]?.

Because half, or all of the Byond DBZ games suck eggs bad enough, to where they KNOW it wont be a problem.

if what you say is true, and this is totally awesome, consider it totally shut down in an instant. And the worse part of it is, the company can turn around, and use the exacate idea and be legally free. [not steal your source code, but use your idea.]

You don't think this dosent happen all the time? Byond is small time man, and people dont waste their time with small time stuff.

But lets look back on "The Chrono Trigger Project" where a developer was working with a nintendo gamecube kit, and was activaly re-creating the entire first Chrono Trigger game in 3D, and it looked gorgeous! They had screen shots, movies, all sorts of stuff, everyone was so excited.

then came along SquareEnix, who threatend by this project gave them a cease and disist order. The rest is history, the best fan game ever made and it was shut down by some insecure pricks.

Anyways, the fact is, it can, and more likley will be shut down, if its anything like your getting so excited about.

Actually, they shut down games that prove to be a financial block to them. Games on here, believe it or not, can help their commercial status.

BFP is a good example. Bid For Power got shut down because they were making alot of money off of the project. Earth's Special Forces is also a very large project, yet it hasn't been shut down. ESF doesn't make enough money to threaten Toonami(or Atari, now, like you said)'s position in the gaming industry.

Bid For Power was Freaking Sweet, And Earths Special Forces, looks like it is pretty sweet too.

There used to be another one, that was being designed kind of like Dragonball Zeta on Byond here, but using the Quake Engine.

It had some really nice screen shots and character models, and I lost the link and I cant remember the name of the site, I cant find it at all.
It's not coming out... at all. Don't even waste time.

Dragonball Quake? Saviour of Strength? Zeq 2?

I wouldn't say the amount of money the BFP team made got it shut down. It was probably more that they were planning on selling the rights to DBZ games and BFP could have potentially hurt that.

I also find it interesting that they shut BFP down when it was near release. They got all the benifits of dragging members of the Quake III community into the DBZ community without actually letting BFP be released.
They also showed the people potentially buying the rights to a DBZ game that there was a keen interest in one.
I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but it was a pretty sweet deal for them.

Although it's a good idea to remember that DragonballZ is not Naruto. I'm not sure who owns the rights to Naruto, it could be the same people that own DBZ, but we're talking about companies stances on this stuff not actual law.
While company A may encourage people to make FanGames provided they don't make a profit company B may discourage people using their stuff to make FanGames reguardless of if they're profiting.
Cool and to all the people saying the makers of this game wil lget sued they wont. No big company will worry about a fan game unless the makers make you pay for it as long as its free i doubt they will care. Just like games on here all the dragonballz games make no money and the company dont care its just the ones that make money off it

Don't forget what happend to Chrono Resurrection! I can see the Cease and Desist letter right now....

I never looked at it that way. Toonami told the BFP team they were getting shut down for the money they made on the project, that's what I heard. Well, rather I should say, that's what the BFP team said they were told.

VIZ is the liscence owner of Naruto, and they are definately keeping lid on it. They want the money, that's what they invested in, and they aren't going to let people take it from them. They made it pretty clear they were going to be cracking down on fansubs and things like that.

We have just given you like 3 examples of very good, very well done fan games, not done in Byond, that has been shut down. And at least one of those examples werent making any money off of it.

They may not get sued, but they could very well be shut down.

I was told Bid For Power first had problems with the game looked too much like the anime. After that, they changed charater names and the way the models looked.

After that, I was told they got shut down, after they made too much money off of it. But you can still find BFP floating around the internet.

The fact is, the company will do whatever they want, and yes, sometimes they do care.

Never say "Neva!" because theres always a good chance when people are using copyrighted charaters and names that dont belong to them.
