I actually said something else, starting with "c". That if you do a forum seach on, plenty of people have said it. Including Lummox. One of the mods must of been bored.

Here in Australia, I havnt seen a laptop thats decent below $1,300. I've seen a few decent desktop's though. But they could be a few hundred dollars cheaper if they wernt filled with an operating system people wouldnt use. But, I guess the majority wins.

Tom recently announced that Dantom now operates under a strictly utilitarian moral code.

So what if there are 5% of BYONDers running linux?
That's still the 5% that will be happier.

While there may be a few more people willing to run BYOND under linux if there were a proper gui, current statistics don't support the 5% number. Right now, we see about 0.05% of users running unix DreamSeeker (I personally account for a significant portion of that), and about 1% of game hosts (where a gui isn't even desirable) running unix.

There are at least a couple people on the BYOND development team with a real personal desire to see non-Windows guis for BYOND, but that doesn't mean such a huge task should be given priority over much more important things. That would mean no more bug fixes, forget about 4.0 this year, no more hub/website updates, etc. It doesn't make any sense until we can push the main software, which works for 99.9% of users, further along.
