Im reading through my Playstation Magazine and I come across a new Final Fantasy game. Dirge of Cerebrus: Final Fantasy VII. But get this, no more adventure RPG, this game is a shooting RPG. Do you think this game will be sucessful?
Would you buy it?
Is it free online? Im not a big gamer outsides sports games...but if it has gameplay similair to Gunz Online, I will be sure to pick it up.

I doubt it is online. The game isnt even done yet so who knows other than Square Enix.
Wow, that is really old news.
not VII - thats 7 - we're past 7 :-P its XII. ^_^

I'll rent it first. Then I'll decide. I doubt it'll be online again (hey maybe it'll be both :-P)

If you havent noticed, Square Enix intend to make these forever and ever til they run out of roman numerals! XD

*goes off to cry somewhere*
I heard they'd be making Final Fantasy XII, but I never heard they were going to be removing the core concept fo Final Fantasy.

Somewhere in my Game Informer I read something like this:
Ages, lands ago, there was a company called Squaresoft, a company that made cardgames (I think) and other things of the sort. Yet, they were going broke, and needed a way to get some cash. They put all the last of their money into their final hope, or, Final Fantasy.

The end. kthnxbai.

It’s named Final Fantasy because it was Square's Final Fantasy.

"All of Square's resources, dreams, and hopes were placed on this single game. If it failed, square would be no more. The project, as Square's final gasp, was given the name "Final Fantasy."

Anyway here is the article that Ol' Yeller was talking about: http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/features/video/hist_square/ p6_01.html

Where did everyone get that this would be Final Fantasy XII? It's exactly what he said it is, no XII involved.

I said FFXII wasn't this. >___>

Yeah... I've known that story for so long. All of their games were goin nowhere. Cards... not helping.

What do we do? We make an inspirational game where a series of characters band together to overcome impossible odds. A story that models the story of the Squaresoft company's financial situation(although with a lot more magic). And indeed, as the hero behind the controller battled through the game, Squaresoft battled through it's financial problems.

What's more, the Final Fantasy series has become my favorite video game series of all time(FF VII being my favorite), though they are closely followed by games such as GunStar Heroes, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Megaman (in my twisted little mind).

I have this slightly aged and torn copy of Playstation Magazine with info, and pics of FFXI AND FFXII. Guess what?- It's from the '90s. And I've seen that some of the more recent pics are quite similar to the old ones.

FFXII is not going to be online. If you want online, that's why they made FFXI, and it's expanding collection of expansion sets.
