Now I don't know about you, but I'm posting on this here forum using IE. Why? Because Firefox is broked.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Lately the reliable, relatively stable and nice Firefox has been freezing *all the time* and needs it's process killed. Plus...what was it...something else too.
Er, but yeah. It keeps freezing and taking up loads of CPU. Why is this, anyone know? I don't have spyware or anything and I have 512 MB of ram- it also happens at any time, even when I'm not running any other programs.

It's done it to me a few times. Closing all the instances FireFox and running it again fixed the problem.

Not had this problem. I use firefox a lot (Even on my jumpdrive, "Fox on the go".) Only time I have had firefox freeze is when using it with movies, but that hasn't happened in a long time. I would recommend uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Also, if that doesn't help, make a new profile, and see if that is the problem.

Do you happen to be leaving an instance(s) of Firefox open for long periods of time, particuly while playing full screen games? I've found that on any machine with less than a 1GB of RAM Firefox slows right down and continues to get worse after I've been playing a full screen game.
It all clears up as soon as I close down all instances of Firefox, but when it's misbehaving it can take minutes to maximize the window or change a tab. I'm guessing it still does it with the 1GB of RAM, it just takes a lot more before it's noticable. |
and make sure you are either using Firefox 1.0.6 (fixes quite a few bugs), or move on up to Firefox 1.5 beta (aka DeerPark).

Yeah, I have 1GB of RAM, but only ~750 megs of it is free at any given time due programs running in the background. Still happens, though it hasn't happened in a while... *knock on wood*

If I'm playing a game ( Java Applet, like RuneScape ), then I can't even use firefox anymore. Firefox has closed itself many times while playing RuneScape, and caused many problems for my friend and I. Firefox also has a memory leak somewhere, which is why your computer slows down. ( Minimizing and Maximizing a few times releases all of the resources, though. So doing this every now and then if you aren't using it will help that ) Otherwise, I use Firefox a bit. Also, if I'm playing a game like RuneScape, then if I open another browser, all of the text I input gets scrambled around.

No, I haven't. I only use Firefox, so if it were truly "broked," I surely would've encountered this by now.
