Im hosting. I can host fine but for some reason when I host the join link on the Hub uses my Internal IP address when I need it to use my External IP address.
Pretty much when people click the join like it makes them try to connect to my internal ip which is 192.168.1.100 and I need the link to make them connect to my external ip which is 24.195.33.132.
If I send someone my external IP they can join but people who just click the link cant.
How can I fix this?

Look up a DMZ host for your router, and see if it supports it. You could do port fowarding/triggering, but that's tedious and annoying because for my router you have to do it every single time you want open those ports.

You guys dont see the problem. I can host and people can join. It's just. When I host. BYOND only sees my internal IP. So the link my dreamseeker puts up on the hub links to my internal IP instead of my external IP like it should so people can connect.
And Glenmont is actually nowhere near where i live although yes im in new york and if im going to host on BYOND hiding my IP isn't exactly something that i can do seeing as anybody who connects to your server can get your IP so I dont really care. |

I wouldn't recommend posting your IP address/es. Especially, if they are constant addresses. You wouldn't believe what somebody could do with that info. Uhm, nothing? Really, there's not much you can do just from having someone's IP. What, you can get pinged? A router or even a basic firewall can stop that. 24.239.185.110 Seriously, take your best shot. To the topic starter, sorry, I don't know why that would be happening. |
Because your router or whatever you're using isn't properly reporting the external IP, the post by Justin Knight is your best bet. Basically you need to reconfigure the medium your connection uses to properly handle address reporting.

An ARIN Whois always lists the internet service provider, not the home address.
Anonymity on the internet is a very, very prominent thing. |
