Super Smash Bros. Revolution. It has a lot of rumors floating around on it. Anyone else looking forward to it? Online play would be awesome, though I'm not sure if I'll have my same dominating abilities while fighting with a remote. I think that new controller idea is stupid.
Anyways, is anyone else looking forward to the latest Super Smash Bros. installment?

I hope it has online play, but I also was disappointed with the controller or remote.

Well I thought the controller was stupid at first, but now I don't. It takes a little getting used to since its so different. On topic, I didn't really like SSBM on GC. I hear countless people saying how much they like it and such, but I just don't. I'll be sure to at least try the Revolution version along with the "DS version" though.

It doesn't seem like it will even feel like a video game. Wireless? OK. Motion-detection? OK. Remote-control shaped? You lost me. The wireless and motion detection seem cool. But the fact that it won't have a video game controller "feel" to it... I hear countless people saying how much they like it and such I like it and such. Hiead |

Along with the remote cotroller that you've seen theres a regular controler too(one based off of the gamecube controller designs). So if you don't like the gameplay with the remote, go buy the regular one. As for SSMB im lookin forward to it, I mean 3d worlds, more characters, more attacks, more worlds, compatable for 8 players at a time, and yes it does have online play.

I can believe everything but the 3D worlds part...
Making the fight platforms 3D would go against the entire SSB theme... |

I wouldn't call the 2D aspect of it a theme. The theme is just the idea of videogame heroes beating each other up.
Still, I can't picture it 3D either. |

The thing is, thats the main part to the controller. Also, for those non gamers out there, Nintendo figured since it so closely resembles a tv remote(Which almsot anybody and evryone uses nowadays and isn't considered "complicated") that they wouldn't think its too hard to play. Even to play NES games, you can turn it sideways and it's about the same size as that controller. That in my opinion IS revolutionary. My parents(my mother especially) would'nt dare touch a controlelr cuz it looked too complicated. But for a while now, they have been hooked on playin Alleyway on my GBA SP.

Official details: Game will be a launch title. It will support online play. It will take use of the GC controller, and "shell" and most likely the Revolution controller in some fashion.
Also, I find it pretty ignorant to say something is stupid without even having the chance to try it for yourself. |

If only everyone could hear that last line. The fanboy's wouldn't understand it though :/

So I can't really try that, unless I know exactly what those Japanese execs were thinking (in which case I doubt I'd understand). The controller itself looks sleek enough, though I doubt it will be as nice to use as any other game controller(XBOX controller excluded). Hiead |

Still, I can't picture it 3D either. Me either. That gives players too much leeway to run and hide out of range in online play. "I'll take a few quick sidesteps and I'll be out of everybody's z-coordinate, so they cant hit me!" Hiead |

You're giving too much credit to sidestepping. I'm pretty sure that attack range would be widened to make up for it.

Well the way I see it, people could already get decently out of range by moving to the other edge of the stage in larger stages when playing with at least 3 players, allowing the others to duke it out themselves. Now they would be able to do that exact same thing, but then move sideways for an even better escape.
Of course, now that I think about it, that would also make things like Fox and Falco's guns, Ness's PK Thunder, and that electric thing Pikachu launches harder to hit a target. I hope that they stick to the sidescrolling battle system that they use now. Hiead |

Perhaps the better term would be "style"...
3D models in a 2D playing field (well, the arena's are modeled as well, but you're limited to 2D movement) is a core element of SSB's style... They designed the first two that way on purpose... They could have easily made them fight in 3D fields, but they deliberately stuck with 2D side view, like traditional fighters... They're not likely to go away from that, it's a fundamental part of the game's design... |

Along with having to knock a player out of the ring. I think that SSB is the only fighter like that.

I really hope they stick with the sidescrolling...and I wonder who came up with the rumor of 3D SSB...
I hope we see Wario and Meta Knight in this game. :< |
