I'm curious what your sources are. New sockets generally mean new technology in how the inner processors work.

For example, AMD's socket 754 processors had 130 nm technology, and AMD's current socket 939 has 90 nm. (Lower is better) That way, they could do more in a smaller amount of space in the CPU. I highly doubt that any processors right now could support AMD's future Socket M2 and Socket F (1207 pins).

Yes, but becoese a processer has a certian socket, doesen't mean that a mother board can't come out that supports DDR2 ram. The DDR2 ram technology Isn't spanking new, nor doese it share a slot with the processor.

RAM is depend on the motherboard(mainbored)not the CPU.
