I have been searching this for a while now, but cannot come to a clear answer. Does the iPod Video play full DVD movies? If so, how many hours of movies can it hold? Also, how long does it take to transfer the DVD movie onto the iPod Video? Last question: how many songs can the iPod Video hold? Thank you.
Screw IPOD Video. Get a PSP, bigger screen and you can always upgrade the memory. Also $200 dollars cheaper than the IPOD VIDEO. You can also play music / games.

The 60GB model can hold 150 hours of video, or 15,000 typical songs. So far anything I have transferred has taken just a few minutes -- but I've been dealing at the 2-3 gig size.

1 gig memory stick duos cost an arm and a leg, you may as well buy a IPOD because if you buy a PSP it will cost you another $150 for an extra 1 gig of space when with an IPOD you get like 60 gig

Good luck finding a 60 GB Sony memory stick ^^

Yes, the PSP does have a bigger screen, and you can always upgrade memory...but just how much would it cost to get 30GB of memory on a PSP? $90 * 30 = $2700

Also $200 dollars cheaper than the IPOD VIDEO.

iPod Video (30GB): $299
Sony PSP: $249

$299 - 249 = $50

$50 != $200

This is especially untrue if you aim to have the same amount of memory.

You can also play music / games.

Let's also analyze the battery lives. The PSP has a maximum battery life of 10:39 when playing only audio with the screen turned off. The iPod Video, under similar (but more battery intensive) conditions can easily manage 20:00.

You don't need 60Gigs of video. Thats just stupid. 1gig for like 5 shows and some misc music is fine enough for me, plus its cheaper.

If you plan on watching movies, then you're going to need more than 1 gig. If I had an iPod Video, I can already think of over 4 gigs of shows/movies I'd put on it.

It takes two gigs of space for an hour of DVD-quality video. With the average movie being two hours and the average TV show being half an hour, I don't feel this is unreasonable at all.

The base iPod is actually 30 gigs, and no thats an extremely reasonable amount.. I have about 25 gigs of music, being able to put a couple movies on there would be extremely handy...

Dude, buy a goddamn portable DVD player if you want to watch DVDs. iPods are ****ing HORRIBLE. Overpriced and over hyped. The MP3 player I got 2-3 years ago was cheaper and still better quality than these POSes.

And yes, if you had the right format, there's no reason an iPod video shouldn't play DVDs. I've sen people use iPods to run EVE-Online and WoW(they are just portable HDs with an mp3 player afterall), the video iPod is still just a HD, and has a video player. The right formats should work regardless of video quality. Why you'd buy an iPod to watch DVDs, when you can get a DVD player for much less, must be an oversight of yours. ;)

Well, an iPod Video is a DVD player that can fit in the palm of your hand. You can walk around while watching a high-quality DVD movie at the tip of your palm. If you walk around holding a DVD player, it just looks stupid, plus, it gets annoying to hold after awhile hence the size and weight of it (plus, you cannot bring a DVD player into class and watch a movie without being caught *wink* *wink*. Detention too). Okay, but all joking aside (or seriousness =P) an iPod Video is what I prefer, and for many other reasons I do not wish to describe hence I only asked three simple questions about the iPod Video which Deadron kindly responded to (which I am thankful for) and I did not ask if you guys thought a PSP or a DVD player was better and what you prefered. I only asked for specific information. Thank you.

size and weight of it?
What are you a pussy? If you can't cary atleast 5 pounds go to the gym.
In response to GokuDBZ3128
Why would you walk around watching a movie in the first place? Only reason I would put a movie on an IPOD is because I can play it on a TV.

...LOL.

XzDoG, I doubt you are anywhere near my size. I have been working out my whole entire life. But this is not the point, you are just an ignorant retard. Who the hell wants to carry around 5lbs, despite how light it is? It is still 5lbs and gets annoying to carry around. An iPod does not even weigh a pound.
In response to GokuDBZ3128
Yeah Xz, Cavern = huge, muscle wise =P
In response to XzDoG
I know I'd rather carry around something small, like the iPod Video, than a portable DVD player. Though, I know you can buy portable DVD players that don't weigh 5 lbs at all, a lot less actually. But the fact is that the iPod Video is smaller still.

And who wants to carry around a bunch of DVDs? Not I.
In response to XzDoG
Why get a laptop when you can carry around your PC! Don't be a pussy and worry about the size or weight of it.
