Whenever I try to start up most of my games(only a few have worked), the graphics are all messed up. For example, Mount & Blade: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/Artekia/wtf.jpg It's worse in some games, and I can't see where anything is. I tried updating my graphic drivers and installing the latest DirectX. This started happening after I brought my computer to a new monitor.

There is nothing wrong with NVidia, and right now, they have the best card on the market. I have an ATI, and like them, but I don't bash Nvidia, because they are good cards. Do you have a reason for bashing Nvidias, if you do, I would love to hear why. It would certainly be news to me.

Lets see here everytime i buy a NVidia it never works for my guys it crashs after 30mins of gameplay or the cards are dumb and limiting the fps to 30 and when i get ati cards they work perfect dont have to install drivers nothing i get 150 fps in hl2 with a 80$ ati card |
Speak for yourself. I've always had NVidia cards and they've all worked great. (I have no bias against ATI, I'm sure they're great too; it just turned out that way.)

Also why would they limit it to 30 fps, thats the stupidest thing i've ever heard, also as for drivers, if you dont update chances are you are going to get errors with newer games and you may get performance hits as you are probably using the oldest drivers in the world. Even if you are getting 150fps in HL2 chances are you have the graphics set very low as any $90 graphic card is not going to be able to run HL2 at even medium graphics without lag |
I sure have a bias against ATI, every ATI card I've ever had (including the new one in my Linux box) has issues on older systems. NVidia cards on the other hand have always worked fine out of the box, and they seem to last almost twice as long under normal stress.

I tried a system restore to the 16th, and then the 13th, after nothing fixed my problem. Neither worked. If anyone has any idea what's wrong, please reply. I'm desperate. =(

can you see if it works with the old monitor and did you install the games before or after you changed monitors.
|
No, and I doubt that the installation of the games really has much to do with it. Direct3D 8 and 9 are messing up for me. So any game that uses those for graphics will mess up.

Need I say... carefully. =) Try not to touch any part of the circuit board or connections with your bare hands; use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. And no liquid (duh).
Have you tried plugging your old monitor in to see if it starts working again? Have you Googled the names of your video card and monitor together to see if anyone else is having the same issues? |
I've tried two different monitors, but not the original. But it doesn't work on either monitor. So I don't think that's the problem. I tried some googling, didn't find much. I guess I'll try carefully cleaning it. =P
