Ever notice how people almost NEVER ask for a composer/sound artist?

Interesting...
Actually, you'll see people asking for something along those lines sometimes. Not as often as other positions, but they're still wanted.
*twiddles his thumbs*

Where are you, business?

:(

Yeah, unfortunately, sound is often something left out of the equation in BYOND game development...

And when people do add sounds, it often comes in the form of BGM midis... And the people using midis generally just go download some pre-existing songs...
I need some original midis... I tried to make sense of a midi sequencer, but, well, I could get no sound out of it, and the help files were completely nonexistent, there were none at all. I gave up and used a midi I found on the internet for background music that's really wierd sounding... but it works.

(I'd like some help deciphering a midi sequencer)

The problem is that most people turn their music off, and listen to their own.

Another thing is, most composers are alot more expensive then say some guy doing some sprites or a banner.

Alot of people have the idea around here that BYOND is a place for free games and that people should work for them for free and shouldn't be paid.

Byond isn't just about free games thought, or working for free, if you expect quality work, you better expect to have to pay the person, and in something other then GM.

I think there's a sense of futility behind that. It's darn hard to find good sound effects that you can actually use in your game royalty-free, and original compositions are simply too hard to get for your game because composers are few, far between, and always very busy. Shades also brings up the excellent point that few composers work for free.

I've been looking for a composer for several years now.

I can refer you to a few. (They might even do it for free!) Post a go-ahead here or send me an email if you're interested.

Oh, I'm quite interested, particularly for free. I'm looking for something specific, though, so I should be specific here.

Incursion needs music, about a dozen pieces worth. The type of music is orchestral/symphonic. Most would be short, some very short, while some would be longer such as the title theme. I have part of a melody for the title theme and several other melodies that can be readily worked into a composition. What I don't have is much filler melody, harmony, or arrangement. And preferably, I'd like the composition done in a Mod format instead of MIDI.

I guess Volty has been doing some free music for Dungeon Diver.

I wouldn't mind doing a few songs. Drop me a line at [email protected] if you're interested.
