I've been wondering to myself about which direction Byond is going. I've seen a lot of stuff over the last year, from one-tile minigames to some amazing pixel-based games made like a Java applet or webgame (it was a fighter plane game or something I saw a while ago). So I'd like to ask everyone, where is Byond going in the year 2006? Is anything trends going on that will change Byond to become more based on DMCGI, pixels, etc.?

Hopefully we are hoping (yey for gramatically correct sentences!) BYOND 4.0 will be coming somewhere around the year of 2010. Then I believe the BYOND Staff are working on a linux version pager that will be released in 2020. Thanks for posting this. |

A much missed post. |
Heh, the meteor post is funny.
Anyway if i know what you mean by pixel based, (and i probably dont) then yea im all for it! And for an idea of my own perhaps it would be cool to make it a full screen type thing for games (or windowed) and hide all those pesky stat tabs and browser thingies, and adds. And come up with a better interface to play the games. Atleast it should be optional i believe. |
Pfft, I almost died when he said 2010. I know a lot of people will have been waiting for BYOND 4.0, much longer than I have even known that there was a BYOND 3.0, BYOND 3.5, etc..., before I have even arrived to BYOND. But 2010? I'd think I'd have left before that time.

Then a metetor (yey again!) will hit the BYOND servers in the year 2011 (a time machine, ok?) will wipe out BYOND forever.
