I'd suggest using the ClearType configuration app. It shouldn't be having that effect on you.
I did, assuming you mean the control panel plugin thing that is downloadable from microsoft.com. (There's also a different program that appears to be built-in to the browser or some such - I didn't try it because I figured it was probably IE-specific.)
Admittedly it was on a fairly high setting when I got the headache, so maybe it would be better if I turned it down, but I can read text with it off with no problems.
I'll try it on the minimum setting for a while and see what happens, I guess.
Could be, but I don't remember it being there by default I think something installed it. (It looks like it might be one of the compiler fonts the .NET stuff includes)
