currently running Ubuntu server and Kubuntu/Xubuntu desktop linux on a few machines (i686/PPC).
also have DamnSmallLinux running on a 486 around here someplace as a backup fileserver, but i forget where in the house it is at the moment. :p past OSs i am willing to admit to using: RedHat, Slackware, SUSE, Mandrake, Slax, Knoppix, MacOS 7 - 10.x, ReactOS, AmigaOS, and my current old-time favorite: GEOS (running on an authentic C64!) |
Using:
Kubuntu linux Windows XP Pro/Home(multiple PCs) Have used: Redhat 9 linux Fedora Core 1-4 Mandrake linux Windows Server 2k3 Windows XP Media Center Windows 2k Pro Windows ME Windows 98 Windows 95 Windows 3.1 Windows CE(Go dreamcast!) DOS(unknown version number) Mac OSX Mac OS9 Mac OS(really old, don't know what version) That is about it. I personally prefer Kubuntu, but am forced to use Windows XP for several reasons, including games and automatic fan speed controller(my machine sounds like a jet taking off without them.) I have been meaning to put DSL on this old 200mrz AMD that I aquired. Can't beat a free server. |
Windows 2000. Never had a real problem with it that wasn't caused by something stupid I did...
|
Oh, there's other Windows clones? I mean, isn't ReactOS built to run native Windows applications?

No. By "more stable" I mean "crashes a lot less than Windows 9x does", and also "when it does crash, it's sometimes possible to recover without rebooting the computer".
Also I never claimed it was actually stable. Just more stable than other Windows versions.
Oh, and by the way, they don't do the screenshot thing. That's just plain wrong. What they actually do is reboot instead of showing you a BSOD (which sucks, but it can be turned off). If your computer is freezing, that's an entirely different issue, it has nothing to do with BSODs.
This was not intended to be an OS-bashing thread, so please don't turn it into one.
