That's cool. Nice prizes there. One problem I might forsee is that there isn't a great deal of people willing or with the ability to make an isometric game, but good luck regardless.

"Willing" being the key part there. I've done 3 isometric projects in the past and I really, really hate doing isometric stuff. And BYOND's lack of ability to offset the client's view by pixels tends to ruin a lot of projects as well.

Not to mention making decent isometric graphics tends to be a real pain...

yea, I understand this :P
In future, it will the concepts and competitions won't be so complex, but there has been some really nice isometric stuff out there :)

We may also consider running both "simple" and "advanced" competitions at the same time - we need people to want to develop these more complex ideas, yet not everyone can.

I'm all in favor of competitions that just motivate people to complete stuff. Whether they're basic or advanced should really be up to the programmer. :P
