Now, I'm not a huge fan of South Park, but apparently the guy who played Chef in the show has quit due to the show making fun of Scientology, even though he made tons of cash making fun out of nearly every other religion.

Hypocrite.

Although I agree with Southpark on this one, I'm sad to see him go. Chef was one of my favorite characters.

You'd think someone who worked for a show that teaches people to "go look it up for yourself" more than any other would, you know, share the same thoughts.
Scientology is probably the easiest religion ever to make fun of. Take a gander for yourself!

This is the best bit.

"For instance, Hubbard's 1958 book Have You Lived Before This Life documents past lives described by individual Scientologists during auditing sessions. These included memories of being "deceived into a love affair with a robot decked out as a beautiful blond-haired girl", being run over by a Martian bishop driving a steamroller which transformed him into an intergalactic walrus that perished after falling out of a flying saucer, after which he was "a very happy being who strayed to the planet Nostra 23,064,000,000 years ago"." -that's from the Wikipedia article referencing "...a much wider Scientology belief in past lives on other planets, some of which has been public knowledge for decades."

I also liked this excerpt, "In some of the teachings Hubbard had intended only for this select group, he claimed that Jesus had never existed, but was implanted in humanity's collective memory by Xenu 75 million years ago, and that Christianity was an "entheta [evil] operation" mounted by beings called Targs (Hubbard, "Electropsychometric Scouting: Battle of the Universes", April 1952). Some critics have claimed that one of the highest levels, OT VIII, tells initiates that Jesus was a pederast (it is decidedly unclear whether the version of OT VIII in the Fishman Affidavit, where this claim originates, is genuine). Thus, critics claim, Hubbard makes clear his belief that advanced Scientologists are to identify Jesus and Christianity more as a force of evil than as a force for good."

...Xenu and Targs? And what is the "Fishman Affidavit"? Amazing. It's hard to believe people like Tom Cruise actually believe this stuff (But then in L.A. they've known the truth about everything the rest of the country isn't privvy too for years because we havn't achieved the intellect and wisdom that comes with the sage-like role of being an Actor/Actress).

Well--I guess it just goes to show that we're all entitled to our own opinions....
They will replace him with another voice actor who does the voice well, he can be replaced.
I am officially saddened that the man who played Shaft would wuss out over this.

I guess it is much easier to make fun of other people's beliefs than to poke fun at your own. Man, what an jerkhole.

It might not just be a personal feeling. Those people can actually be quite disruptive to your life, or even dangerous.

There's a reason why California is on the opposite side of the country from Washington DC ...

To be clear, Isaac Hayes (Chef) worked on the music for Shaft. However, Shaft was played by Richard Roundtree.

What I don't believe is that Shaft survived after he had his girlfriend watch over his mistress. The sequals must be lying.

If you want more, check out http://www.xenu.net or http://scientology-kills.org. The latter or the two feels more of a conspiracy theory website but the first one pokes fun at it.
