My local pooter store has one cheaper http://www.umart.com.au/pro/ products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=6&&bid=2&sid=11275
But anyway, i'd suggest getting a fan or something for it

That is cheap!
And yeah, I'm going to try a case fan first. (Actually two; one for each computer with this model of video card.) If that doesn't work I'm going to try getting my video card replaced under warranty, since it's running hotter than the identical video card in the other computer, under the same conditions. If that fails, or it's still too hot, then I'll look into replacing the heatsink itself with something chunkier. |

...not literally. =) Hmmm, wasn't it you (I think I'm remembering correctly) who posted on the Mount & Blade forum about a bug causing the HUD text to do that (complete with screenshots)? So perhaps after all it wasn't a bug with M&B, but your video card's first death throes? |

Yep, that was me, and yes I had realised that. =) I should go back and add a postscript saying so. In fact, I'll do that right now.
Edit: And there's a new version out. Spankin'. |

crispy, just encase the card in a heat-resistant gel/plastic, run a long connector from it to your PC, and submerge the board in liquid nitrogen like they use to do with super computers... then it will stay very cool (and probably run a bit faster too)!

First off, Adding a case fan isn't going to make much of a difference. It might decrease the temp by a few degrees... but what will make the biggest different is changing the cooling ON the card, not the airflow.
Oh right... is this it? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125175 According to http://www.xe.com/ucc/ Newegg's price is over 100$AUD cheaper than the place you got it from. =/ |

Newegg doesn't ship international orders, unfortunately. :-( Otherwise I definitely would buy from them.
That does appear to be my card, though, yes. And thanks for the advice. |
I bought it from a local warehousing distributor who's generally pretty good, and cheap. Free shipping too; he actually drives over in his car with the goods, and he accepts cash on delivery too. I've never had a problem with him, and I've bought several things from him. I have a friend who bought a several thousand dollar laptop too.
Not quite. =) It's this card. That's the website of the guy I bought it from too. His HTML skills suck but I don't hold that against him. =P
If the prices look a bit steep (twice Newegg's at first glance), keep in mind that they're in Australian dollars, not US dollars. =)
I do wish I had that video card, though, since the reviews there say it runs pretty cool.
