Hello there, for the past while I have been working on my first out of BYOND project; with my cousin. I need some opinions, but I have no players.. I was wondering if some of you could give me some input, before I do a full release of the game. The client can be downloaded here:

It's 13.5 megabytes by the way, for all of you who want to know without clicking the link, because that'll slow the dialup users down a bit.
Well, for one, you can fix this error. Or maybe it's just me, I dunno. Anyway, take a look at this error.

I get this box that popups saying "checking folders", than I get an error. It's an alert windows saying:

Run-time error '339':
Component 'TABCTL32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

That sounds like a problem with a Windows file, but none of my other programs give me that error. I have the folder on my desktop.

[Edit]
If you made it in Visual Basic, I've found this information:

You cannot just copy executable file onto the user machine: you must build a distribution package. There is a Package & Deployment Wizard (aka P&DW) available in VB. It's simple to so just follow On-Screen instructions.

Information at http://www.vbforums.com/archive/index.php/t-353439.html

[Edit Again]
If you are having a problem with this, look at this page, and follow the Alternative directions.

If you have ever tried my BYOND game Realm of Mordor, then you would know...

The easiest way to put it, is it's all my favorite games packed into one, Runescape, Phantasy Star Online, Dungeons and Dragons, Phantasia, Race War Kingdoms, ect.. ect..

What? You just made like an uber run-on sentence or something. I'm not really sure, because I never get higher than a C in English.

ohh fantastic. I wish I had more time to play tonite. It's quite a slick interface. Only down side is that the client is just slightly too large at 1024x768:(
I played for a bit yesterday. Only thing I didn't like about it is that I had a lot of trouble reading anything on the GUI (things like 'Chat', and all of those functions.) Overall, it was alright.
Well the first thing I did was look at your clients files as I can do that.

I got to say, nice work on using Chrono Trigger, Rune Scape, and RPG Maker XP graphics. I am sure Rune Scape won't mind you using all those item icons you ripped off from them..

Have you ever played a little game called Odyssey Online Classic? Because you are also using a number of graphics from their game as well.

Actully after playing it a little bit, it felt exactly LIKE Odyssey Online Classic, and since the source code has been readily avaible off a web site for years now it makes me wonder if you were just a fan, or if you just altered their source? It isn't that hard to change a GUI or change some icons around.

Edit: Never mind, after digging around a little bit more, I noticed that it is in fact, not Odyssey Online Source Code, but the Mirage online game engine, which was a altered version of Player Worlds.

Why in the name of god, would you work outside of BYOND, only to use something like Mirage? It is one of the worst engines I have ever seen and is much less workable then BYOND. Unless Mirage has updated in the past year and a half, last time I even looked at it, you had to go into way too much trouble just to make a door or a warp passage.

If I remeber correctly, if someone wanted to make a door then opened and closed. You first had to make a Door Icon, and a Open and Closed Icon as well, then you had to put like areas in front of the door to check to see if someone is standing in front of the door, then you had to make a key object that worked with the door object to open it up. And no I am not kidding, and you had to do that with every door you wanted to just open.

I would have just stuck with BYOND if I were you.

Thanks msn, and I also have some ideas of what to do to the client to make it better for everyone.

Anyways, as for the people that are having problems downloading the client, I am working very hard to get them resolved, and am very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.

RaeKwon I noticed that you are using a number of graphics taken from the offical Enterbrain RPG Maker XP package.

If you are unaware, it is illegal to use offical RPG Maker material unless you actully have purchased a licence for it.

So if you haven't done so already, pay for the licence or remove the content from your game.

http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/tkool/RPG_XP/eng/

You can find the page to pay for it under the downloads section.

Normally I am not very picky about this. But RPG Maker is hard enough to get into the states as it is already without people stealing their content. It only shows Enterbrain that Amercians are unwilly to actully pay for their content even though they ask for it all the time.

For me it isn't a legal thing, it is a support for the company thing.

It wouldnt let me run it...

but need to ask one thing.... what program did you use to make the game^^
