Yeah, I got my drivers license this morning since i passed my test! Yay :)
Congratulations. I am a procrastinator and keep putting off mine. I should have gotten it earlier this year at the latest, but I didn't and my learner's permit expired. My one-year duration for the 5-hour course is up too, so now I have to both get my permit and take the course again before I can schedule a driving test.

well done, I got mine back a few weeks ago!
therefore dont loose it, dont drink and drive like I did. Luckily it was a control and not an accident.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
Kudos.

Me too, and for the same reason. I can get by fine on lifts and buses.

I did get my learners, but they expired round about a year ago. I used them exactly once. =) I only got them in the first place because there's a school program here that pays for the "Road Ready" course that we're required to take before getting them - normally you have to pay a few hundred dollars for it, and if there's one thing I never pass up it's free stuff. =)

Just turned 21 last month. I can drive just fine, and I have no doubt that I would pass the test, but I just never bothered calling up the DMV to schedule it.

O_o, a license here in the states, at least where I live, costs 25 bucks. Why would you not get it? It's a lot better than paying a few hundred dollars for the ticket..

Woah, that's really cheap. I got my permit the other day and it cost nearly $75 in processing fees, $40 for the photo alone.

When I got mine it including the fees to take a road corse and I belive it was also around 75. (40 for photo, 10 for permit fees, 25 for road test fee(when I take it).)

Oh no no no, I'm not driving illegally. When I had my permit, I was only driving when I had someone else with a license with me, and now that it expired I'm not driving.

As soon as I get up off my bum and go to the DMV, I'll get my permit again and schedule to take the 5-hour course again (Is that a national thing, or just in NY that you need to take that?), and then I'll have another year or two or whatever to procrastinate again, and I'll probably end up getting my license at the last minute.

Ah I see. Here in ND, $25 bucks, for road test and everything. No classes or anything, you just hop in, pass the test, and you're licensed.

Of course, there are courses that you can take, (which I would highly recommend) that costs money, but they aren't a requirement.

What the hell? Before I can get a license, I have to buy a temporary license for $25. Then I have to hold that for 6 months, in which time I have to take a $300-350 Driver's Ed. course, and am required to log so many driving hours with a legal guardian. Then I have to pay to get the license itself.

Of course, if I waited until I was 18 I could avoid most of that, but I don't want to do that. I'm probably going to get my temp. license very soon(I could've got the thing a year ago, but I am the great procrastinator!).

In ND, if you're under 18, I do believe you have to purchase a learners permit first (also $25 i believe), or maybe it's 16, at any rate, once this has been purchased, you can go in and get your real license. However, you can't go in the same day, but if you go in the next, you can receive your real license.
