I have a window-mounted air conditioning unit plugged into a power strip alongside various gizmos and gadgets... the lights have been flickering... is this safe? Will it overload the power strip? Is this a hazard?

Thanks

An AC is a major appliance. It should under no circumstances be plugged into a power strip. It belongs on its own dedicated or mostly-dedicated circuit.

What should I do then, I have one powerstrip and one PC battery backup, both of which are filled to the brim with PC's and accessories.

I'm outta outlets :(

I re-wired everything.... ended up removing a power-strip...

Ok, this is the AC:

And this is my computer's power strip:

Alongside an extension cord with a scanner and unused lamp on it.

Is that ok then?

Just hope none of your computer stuff is still on the same circuit -- that can get tricky. The lights flickering a little bit when the unit comes on and shuts off is normal, but not at any other time.

Draw a new one on the wall!

Have it. From like 1979. Sucks. Haha.

I would switch the A/C unit to a single slot and then see if the lights still flicker, if so, I wouldn't think it is the power strip causing it.

I used to have an A/C that was plugged righ in the wall and every time I turned it on and change the temp, the lights would flicker in the house.

I have a new unit right now, and I Have it pluged into a 6-Prong wall outlet extender thingy and it works fine.
