Does Byond support the use of controllers on the computer so we dont have to hit a crudload of keys?
No, not directly. But you can get third-party programs that will convert controller input into keyboard input. JoyToKey does joystick to keyboard input, for example. I don't know if it works with gamepads or not.

I used that for MLAAS oh so long ago. It worked pretty well, the only real problem I had was the fact that it was an analog pad and that didn't work out very well in comparison to the digital keyboard.

I use one of these (minute the rumble feature - I hate those).

JoyToKey works just fine. What I also like is that you can set it up multiple configurations that you can switch with a simple click, so you can tailor the keys to specific Byond games. At most, you just need to experiment with the Autofire option when using the control pad so you can get down movement speed, but the rest is golden.

The biggest problem I have with those is the analog "D-pad". It makes it really hard to move in the correct direction a lot of the time. I like the AirFlow controls because they have a nice + shaped pad. It is still a completely connected analog pad, but it is far better than ones like the one you showed below. I personally like the PlayStation D-Pad the best out of any game control I have played with.

There is an example of a PS2 control and the D-pad to boot.

Don't make fun of my baby. :(

Personally I haven't experienced a problem like that with my D-pad. I can see how someone COULD have issues with the way the pad works, but fortunately it's just fine to me.

Is this what you're talking about?

I agree that I like that style of D-pad much more. I wish that was in stock when I picked up my controller from Best Buy, though. :/

Edit: Oh you sneaky devil. Editing after I saw it.

I use a real PS2 controller on my computer ^_^

Yay for Adapters and 3,022 roms.

Yeah, that is the airflow control. I have the older version of it but it is starting to die on me. It has put in a good two or so years. It actually is failing because when I got my own computer I left it downstairs on the family computer and my little brother was rough on it. The fan actually broke within two months, but it still provided good airflow when you compare it to most other controls.
