I am at my friends house and for some reason the 2nd controller on the Xbox 360 won't work, it just keeps blinking. Does anyone know how I can fix this? We have tried turning the system off and back on, but the controller won't work.

Is it wireless? If it's wireless, it needs to be charged. Mine start blinking when they're getting ready to die.

I was under the impression that all Xbox 360 controllers were wireless. Change the batteries! :P

Pfft. You kids with your fancy newfangled wireless controllers... in my day we had tangled masses of wires all over the place, and we LIKED it!

The Xbox 360 controller is wireless. When you play games, you have to hit the sphere again and again to set the controller number.
If the controller that doesn't work in the second "slot" doesn't work in any others, then you should go buy another controller. |

Hah! I don't like wireless controllers much either. I have my own issues with them. For one thing, batteries.

When you first get a Xbox 360 you need to assign the controller to the Xbox 360, as when you first get them, they are undetected by the system.
There is a button you press and the Xbox should detect it. If not it might be your batteries, in which case you shold try and replace the batteries. Also, you CAN make your Xbox 360 controllers wired by buying their "Play and Charge" kit, which comes with a USB cable and a rechargable battery pack. You plus the cord into the Xbox controller and the system and you can play with the controller while it is being charged. I guess a lot of lazy people will just keep the controller plugged in. I swear I don't know why they didn't make like a charger with the controllers. Like the Nintendo Wii, it has a charging station. Or maybe those action charge thingys where you shake it and it charges. Or hell even solar powered. I have a solar powered battery pack for the NDS. |

The Wii can afford to splurge on things like that because they're going to be relatively cheap. What I would have expected them to do is sell seperately a Microsoft battery pack and charger station not unlike the old mobile phone chargers. Ie, there's a dock which holds two batteries, then as one charges and the other dies you switch them over. Although of all the companies I would have expected Mircosoft to get wireless controllers right, considering they've been selling wireless mice and keyboards for years. Then again I've been throwing Microsoft wireless keyboards and mice for years. =P |

It dosen't cost that much money to make the stuff they sell, they just jack prices up.
I could buy the Xbox 360 charge and play kit, or I could buy a pack of rechargeable batteries with a charger for the same price. They could have easily threw in a rechargable battery with either the charge cable or a cheap-o charge station and not bring up the price at all, or at any noticable ammount. |

I belive the PS3 controller will be rechargable too. It's simple because Microsoft is lazy. (Which you can also see with Windows...and IE)

That's why you buy the rechargeable battery pack for like, $15 and then you get the recharge cord and you can keep playing on the same controller while it charges...It's really great. I'm loving the wireless controllers...

Yeah a wireless contoller with a god damn wire. Yeah.. UH WHAT?!
My friend just has a big pack of rechargeable batterys plugged into his wall and changes them every so often. |
Figure out which part is faulty and get it replaced. Hope it's under warranty. ;-)
Of course there may be a way to actually fix this; I don't know since I'm not rich enough to afford a next-gen console.
