(From my blog)
Some of you may have heard about my big news that I was going to release Augest 2nd.
You guys remember that site, Cambrian House, that me and Crispy, and I think Hiead posted about? Well, out of an unimaginable amount of submitions, 3 ideas were picked for market tests, and one of them was mine. They didn't use the exact idea, but they certainly made it better.
http://www.gwabs.com/
I think it's an excellent idea. Keep in mind that they're still in early alpha release and your suggestions could radically shape the way the game turns out when it is released.
The current market test ends on September 1st, so please come and sign up as fast as you can! And tell your friends!
If you guys help make this game a success, I promise I will give a massive donation to BYOND for being my inspiration. If it is REALLY successful, that donation could be ABSOLUTELY HUGE, as in many thousands of dollars. So please, help out the best you can!
I will also hold contests here to for great prizes if it is a success.
Crispy and Elation will be getting some thank-you gifts from me as well :)
So tell me what you guys think of the game, how you think it will do, etc.... And please, pre-order and tell your friends!
You can submit suggestions and such directly to the site, or you can debate on the forums on how the game aspects and marketing should work:

Wow. That's pretty cool..I'm definitely gonna consider buying..0_0 But is it just $9.95 to pre-order or is that the full price?

They are fixing up the pricing system, so I dont know about the future, but if you pre-order, you can get it for half-off (9.95).
|
Whoah! I can't believe how fast they were able to make it!
*Looks at desktop littered with icons* Oooooh Yeaah By the way, what does the name mean? Or is it just a fun word to say? Good luck! (I'm getting my dad to buy me an Airsoft gun online, maybe I can get him to pre-order this as well.) |
Looks interesting, but I would really like to see a demo before I went and spent $10 on it. Although the cambrain house sounds like a trustworthy orginization, I, for some odd reason, don't trust them. That video could have easily been made in flash, and all the screenshots could have been made an any assortment of art programs, and a good artist could do it in no time.
Are you in on the testing? That alone would prove that they do have a product and arn't just scamming us. |

Would they buy a .com address and do all of that hard work for say... 300 people to buy it? (as soon people find out it's a scam, nobody would buy. =/) |

Scammers wouldn't be contacting the inventors- I know that Cambrian house wants to interview Kunark; doesn't sound like the kind of behaviour you'd get from con-men, does it?

.com address... $10. Sounds like they would make their cost back in minutes.

Now then, after watching the video, it would seem like it is an amazing game if it were real. Sorry to say, but while watching the video, I have come to believe that it is phony. At one point the mouse thingy jumps up on to the open widow in the background, how would it be able to do that on the other player's screen, because I doubt his was in the exact same position... It just seems a little fishy to me... but it's only $10 so I am still going to order it, just in case everyone elses doubt has just brought out doubt in me... it looks cool...

If you play online, I would assume it chooses one of the two desktops and both players use the same one.
Not to mention we don't know if that fight was online (I'm assuming you can play offline with different controls or verse a computer). Out of curiosity, what percent of the profits do you get? ;) |

(From my blog) I hope that thing has a boss key! (The key you press that stops play when your boss walks by to tell you about the new form 998.B which is 2% better than 998.A) |

That video could have easily been made in flash, and all the screenshots could have been made an any assortment of art programs, and a good artist could do it in no time. Understandable, I convinced them to go with a free trial before-hand, but that won't be out 'till September 1st. If this convinces you, they were generous enough to buy me an Amazon $20 gift card just to say sorry for one of their servers failing which erased some of my ideas and I had to put them back up. Are you in on the testing? That alone would prove that they do have a product and arn't just scamming us. I think they just sent me the information to see the code and such.... So, maybe, but I don't think I'll be able to see it without XP. |

Well, I completely trust the source. They spent around $8,000 on delivering pizza to Google.com employees as a public relations stunt. Since they have the ability to make such a game, and they would be able to make more money off of the game than if it were a scam, I'm positive they did.

Yeah, I think it will. Somebody suggested it to them on the forums.

Gwabs, thankfully, is doing alright right now, and it seems to have gotten a lot of very good responses from many sources, but for some reason they made the market test really short.... So short that they might not be able to see how incredibly popular it will become once they release the game!
The market test to see if they want to continue it ends before the game is released, so it might not give it a chance.... Unless it gets as much help from sources like this as it can! So those of you who have forgotten or haven't seen it yet, please check it out and pre-order a copy if you like it! I would really like to get the word out to a broader range of people, so I could use some suggestions of where I could show people Gwabs. If you visit any other gaming forums, please show it off there if you can and put in a good word! (in response to Satans Spawn): You play on each others' desktops. So one person plays on their desktop, and the other plays on the same desktop. http://www.gwabs.com/ And thank you, everyone who has signed up already! |

no way it's a scam
http://www.cambrianhouse.com/blog/category/ startups-entrepreneurship/ Ain't no scammer out there go to the trouble of posting such a neat article:) Besides, everything about this company screams quality, and the game advertised is the perfect size for an upstarting company, not too large and simple to implement eyecandy, which seems to be all the rage today. |
