As he said, I'm sorry for your loss. Seemingly apathetic advice follows.
Yeah, I've lost a few people close to me recently. But, yeah, it sucks, but you'll get over it sometimes. Not trying to be jaded or apathetic, but it's probably the best words of advice I have. I'm not that great with it and people usually get pissed off at it, but it's probably the best thing to do. Cry about it for a while, get over it, move on, and have fond memories of the person. |

I'm sorry for you. I personaly have not had anyone really close to me die but I have some idea of what it would be like. I don't know what else to say except don't become bitter because since she was your best friend she would not want that. You've got my sympathies.

We all lose a friend at some point in our lives (I haven't o.O, mine moved. >_>), But it's all about experiencing that emotion, and moving on. You have to think to yourself, "would Brittney want to see me like this? Isn't she in a better place?" I had another online friend lose a good buddy just a couple of months ago, and they were traumatized. I couldn't help but think, "wtf." Now to see another one pass away, it just pangs my heart. Be strong man. Be strong for her, her family (they have known her for 17 years... just imagine that >_>), and most of all, yourself. Don't just forget about her death, and don't dwell on it, but just experience a little at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself with depression. I am truly sorry that this happened to you, but, don't let her death be your demise. Be strong, and just remember... 42.

but you'll get over it sometime I don't mean to make anyone feel worse, but that's not always true. Someone extremely close to me died few years ago, so close that I actually feel worse about it than I did for the passing of close family members that I love. As much as I try not to think about it, even to this day it haunts me terribly. It hurts just to mention it like this right now. It's been a few years, and I don't know if I'll ever get over it at this rate. I suppose it was an abnormal situation though, as most people don't actually see the people they care about take their last breaths. That might be part of what made it have such an impact on me. I know other people in extreme situations cringe at the reminder of their past. One of my college instructors has a brother that was in the navy and was raped by his seargent and a couple other guys, and he still to this day shudders whenever anyone abruptly puts a hand on him. Certain situations leave a scar on your memory that hurts whenever it is recalled no matter how much time has passed. |

Well, I think it is impossible to totally get over losing someone close to you without completely forgetting about them. I lost my aunt last Christmas Eve from a car wreck([link]). Even the though of Christmas reminds me of her and her daughter(Who was also killed in the crash). I doubt there will be a Christmas that passes that I won't remember, but I accept that. What does change is the fact that I can think about it without crying now, and that is a big step from the first few months after the crash. Time heals wounds, but scars last. We shouldn't look to remove these scars, because they make us who we are.

If you where replying to me, no need to be sorry. I don't know you, you don't know me, I don't expect you to morn the loss of someone you don't know that is related to someone else you don't know. My point was simple that time does heal wounds, but scars stay.

I dunno if this will help you or not, but it helps me a lot when I am depressed over something like this. ICP has a song called Pass Me By which is on the Great Milenko album. Basically it's a song where one of the band members "dies" and he sings about what is going on in the afterlife that lays ahead, and how he would never go back if he had the chance... it is definately worth a listen in my opinion.

Hey man, I know what that's like, although not to your extent. I lost 3 relatives and my best friend, who was only 15, all last year. 2 commited suicide, one died from old age, and my friend was in a car wreck. We didn't even know he was moving away. But anyways...
I'm sorry for your loss, it breaks my heart that us teenagers aren't invincible :) (It's a joke, be happy, heh. Not a harmful thing ><) |
