I am considering getting my own forum to use for various groups and topics. An example would be clans in a game. I've never tried to get my own forum, so things like php are alien to me. I will consider things like paying for hosting if I see a clear advantage, but I would prefer to keep it on free hosting, even if there are ads, but no popups.

What in the world are you talking about?

It's obvious what he's talking about. Learn to read. He's looking for a site that will host forums for him, preferably for free.

Cheeseburgermafia (great name by the way!): I don't know about free (all the free forums I've used sucked - ezboard is the pits), but BYOND Members can create guilds, which include forums. That's $15/year, which comes out to $1.25 per month - pretty cheap!

Other than that, you could get a web hosting plan and put forum software on the server yourself (it's usually pretty easy) - but they tend to be more expensive. DreamHost, for example, charges $7.95 a month (and that's if you sign up for two years).

The upside of that is you get much more than just a forum host. You get a place to put an entire website.

Other than those suggestions you could look around the hub at other peoples boards. A lot of them are hosted on free board websites.

On another forum, I keep seeing ads for a sort of "coupon" for DreamHost, and it taking $50 off. It's called "SAGOON", and it's not much of a surprise where it's from. :P

Figured I'd pass that over if you would want to know.

"Note: The Free Hosting Package is set by default to expire after 1 year. All customers can renew their free hosting accounts for free."

Wait so it stops hosting after a year, you just tell it to start hosting again? Would everything you have on the site get deleted? If not I just might sign up, I've been looking for a new webhost :D

If you want to help BYOND out and get $40 off, you can use the code 'BYOND4EVER'.
In response to Nadrew
As awesome as that would be, you wish Nadrew. :p
In response to Mechanios
It's an actual code for DreamHost, it provides a referal to BYOND's DreamHost account, and they take the amount of discount from the referal payment.
In response to Nadrew
Why didn't someone tell me that sooner :P. I spent about $150 with them recently and would have loved to have made BYOND the referrers (which they were).
