Today's PCP(Point, Counter Point) will be on:
Did Sony steal Nintendo's controler design?

You all know how after Nintendo finally announced its controller Sony chucked out the rumble pack, and threw in the tilt control. It may suck, not be even close to the wii remote, and not have many games that use the feature, but.... why the sudden change? I think it's obvious, Sony was scared about the Wii and made a rash move to keep the fanboys. Then shrugged it off and said they weren't even amused with the Wii to cover up their tracks.

What do you say?
Sony would have been in development with their controller for a while. They did not steal the Wii controller.

Plus, it's a logical progression from the Eyetoy.

But, they didnt even mention it until after Nintendo released the info on their new controller. Not to mention as I said above, taking out the rumble pack was rash, too rash to be done without pressure.

Like legal pressure from a company that has a patent on the particular way sony's rumble pack worked in the PS2. If Sony wanted to do the same thing with the PS3, they'd need to pay a fair amount of licensing fees.

Nintendo was also the first company to have:
Analog sticks
Rumble pack(if I recall right, if true, I'm sure more would/will of/be/been taken for copying controller.)
...many other things....

Even if RP not taken from Nintendo could of made their own RP

Sony was the first console to have analog buttons. Don't most systems have those now? Gasp!

A good idea is a good idea is a good idea. Please, stop trying to make Sony look evil for using the same tactics everyone else does.
Actually I believe they lost the contract with the company that did the rumblepacks (this is hearsay though). Personally I would have preferred the rumble over the motion tilt, or whatever you would call that. :p

Sony was facing some pretty tough legal issues with vibrating motors so they had to throw them out, thus moving on to a new feature to put in the controller. It isn't weird in any way that Sony happened to showcase their new controller function after Nintendo showed theirs, Nintendo just happened to beat Sony to the punch of showing off new controller functions. If you have heard any rumors on the internet about it, try to make sure it isn't a biased source, since most of it that springs up seems to be from fanboy type sites, unfortunately I can't recommend to you any unbiased gaming media sites at this time.

Information on the vibrating motors issue. Also, while looking around, it seems that Immersion is taking interest in the Wii's controller, but I don't believe any legal action has taken place yet.

Nobody else is removing the rumble function from their controllers. =P
